Only like 5% related to the list, but I also feel a ton of people gloss over the context of how gen 1 Pokemon was an obvious passion project from a small team that almost bankrupted themselves over it. Like even if you didn't grow up with the games and live through the initial Poke Madness, I think that's very endearing by itself to play a game prior to it becoming the merchandising giant it is now, along with getting that much out of a system that by all accounts was almost-dead before it's release single-handedly revitalized it's popularity.
