This could be a perfect PS1 game if not for the fact that the structure kinda breaks near mid-point. The rest of the game feels like a gimmicky boss rush. The bosses are very cool tho.

I'm not saying this is the most disappointing sequel of anything ever. But it's definitely up there!

When everyone was dunking on it, i was just a scared little boy who for some reason would not quit this nightmare till the last demon was killed.

This game made me read trillions of text lines and love it.

More like bloated ring... what?

I get that duality of spiritual and physical is like a major theme in this one, but do we REALLY need multiple versions of the same bosses? Cut it out and don't waste my time, Elden Ring!

Still, Elden Ring brings to the table some great new twists on the open world formula and after 20 years of oversaturation this fact can't be underappreciated. And don't even get me started on how impressive of a first attempt at open world game design this game is! What the hell, Miyazaki?

Gorgeous but absolutely devoid of character as a game both in writing and game design.

Gen-X Horror: The Game: A Good One: A Very Good One

The last game that scared me to the point when there was no poop to transaction. A gory, blood soaked, scream deafened, bone brokened orgasm of horror.

The Bloodstained cross over DLC gave me some vietnam flashbacks of Hollow Knight white palace sodomy. The game is great, but this dlc really exposes how inferior the platforming is compared to something like Hollow Knight, just nowhere near as precise and pleasant. But this DLC really puts added strain on the game's mechanics, due to it's exclusively platforming nature, the main game levels done in a way that make platforming work 90% of the time, which is still not perfect but good enough.

The true gem here is the spooky bloodsoaked spanish lore about martyrs, and sins, and penitence and all this delicious stuff. You should play it only in spanish laguage, since that's where the game takes all it's historic and religious inspirations. This game might be the closest to capturing the uniqueness and at times truly horrific nature of Dark Souls visual style.

Even in unfinished state (which is the only thing keeping me from awarding it with 5 stars) Phantom Pain beats 2015 ass like a crazy horse.

I think i appreciate MGS 4 more as a thing that exists, rather than i actually like playing it. Still, what an unhinged idiosyncratic vision that just doesn't give a flying fuck about good game design and goes full in on it's obsessions.

2017

Uninspired visual design prevented me from being able to truly invest my patience into it like I'm always able to with FromSoftware worlds. And it's not the only thing that sets Nioh and something like Sekiro apart.

Was quite a bit underwhelmed by it at the time. Human Revolution is among my all time faves, and while this has very similar vibes, it just felt undercooked.
