dont know how much ill grind this but its pretty good. it kinda feels like theres always one ability thats just the best one so that kinda discouraged me from experimenting. feels real nice with a controller, at least on barbarian

I'm not completely opposed to walking sims but this one was pretty rough. I don't think this game really had much to say but it really wants you to think it is. Combat was fine but the puzzles never really picked up, just zoom in on some shapes. If they increased the running speed this game would be like 4 hours long which would've been an improvement. Maybe hellblade 2 will have more going on

This came out of nowhere, frictional the horror game GOATs

A lot more going on than the first game, I need to replay and find all the secret shit now

Really cool pixel art but everything else was lacking. I played on the switch and it seemed kinda buggy, portions of the game that were just missing soundtrack, and sometimes the soundtrack would just loop endlessly. The random rhythm game portions felt unnecessary and sometimes just didnt have any music at all. The minigames didn't feel like they actually mattered since there was pretty much no penalty for messing up, which made it feel like they were just tacked on to extend gameplay. Overall left pretty underwhelmed, story was just OK.

some crisp feeling mechanics, good bosses, but the levels can get a lil monotonous

lotta character in this, its cool

minus half a star for that final boss fight

plus everything else for my guys saejima and akiyama

2022

Pretty slow start but starts to eventually pick up. Would have liked more from the ending but the one sequence before it was really good. Gorgeous pixelart graphics.

I was pretty invested during the beginning of the game, doing all the exploring and side quests, until I slowly realized that I was not having that much fun. Eventually I got tired of fighting the same zombies and ogre-minibosses so I just started speedrunning trying to get the story which I barely had any investment in. I was pretty interested in Baldur in the beginning but then he just vanishes for like 80% of the game. The rest of the game felt like fetch quests. There were some cool action cutscenes and while watching them I couldn't help but think to myself "Man it'd be cool if I could do this in gameplay instead of just button mashing attacks."

In the end its still a AAA game so there's quality there, but the design is mega flawed. So ultimately pretty forgettable.

Little bit buggy and movement is kinda annoying, but really cool art direction as always from these guys

Indie horror of the year for me, what a stunning game. Nice blend of new and old survival horror mechanics. The first person segments feel extra cool since most of the game is top down.

I'll have to relook at some things to fully grasp the story since it's a lil ambiguous, but I was very invested. Beat it on survival difficulty and it felt just right. Never found the grenade launcher tho lol

Only gripe is the inventory system. Because you usually want a gun+healing+tool, you don't really have that much space for key items. Which causes a lot of backtracking cause you have to keep going to the locker and storing stuff.
