Steampunk

Part of my Punk Aesthetics series of lists.

Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that incorporates retrofuturistic technology and aesthetics inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.

"ummm akshually, dishonored is Whalepunk, which is totally different from steampunk somehow" - Dishonored fans probably. In all seriousness I do think theres a subcategory of Steampunk that leans more into the early 20th century side of things which is sometimes called electropunk, which i think fits dishonored somewhat. Its definitely steampunk though.

@LordDarias - Yes a lot of games like Bioshock, Dishonoured could be steam or diesel punk etc. A lot of the games in my Punk Aesthetics folder could fit in a mixture I'll have to try and refine over time.

@Jackier - Not heard of this / these. Seem like a mix of diesel and steam punk?

@ZapRowsdowser - How could I forget Clockwork Revolution! Not sure on Alice, I thought about it but have tried to go with games that are 100% punk of that style rather than levels or sections.

The engine tech was somewhat ambiguous but the aesthetics of the air ships and character design heavily leaned into steampunk.

Game was pretty fun at the time, nothing quite like it today.

@Jackier - No worries, I added it. Seems thematically pretty close :)
