I'd have probably stuck with it a little longer if the campaign didn't feel so level-grindy at points, but this is a cute, fun little open-world racing game.

I barely knew what I was doing. But it was fun slipping and sliding around.

I would've tried to finish it but those chase scenes are annoying as hell.

Trial-and-error garbage.

Otherwise...it's got its flaws but it's free; how hard can I be on it?

"Mom, I want Splatoon!"
"We have Splatoon at home!"
Splatoon at home:

Okay, in all seriousness, the moment-to-moment gameplay has some good ideas, but everything else around it is hideous. And unlike Splatoon, which actually had a good campaign, this game's single-player component is laughable.

As my first experience with the Prince of Persia franchise, what a pleasant little gem this was. Reinventing the series with a Metroidvania was such a shrewd move, and it worked so well. I don't even feel like I need that Sands of Time remake anymore; this was more than enough.

I'd care more for the gimmick if I cared more about this genre.

Sadly, I don't, so...here we are.

Tried it out thanks to Game Pass. Cool little arcade-style companion to MLB The Show.

I bit the bullet and used Custom Mode to complete a run. Don't look at me like that, I put 16 and a half hours in, I played more than enough to form a solid verdict.

But yeah, this game's great. It's easy to see how it really helped push the deckbuilder genre forward in the video game world. Just prepare for it to bash your skull in a little bit. Every time you feel like you're properly learning how to surf, expect it to push you into a tidal wave.

"Yes, Matt, GREAT plan; you, a FNAF hater, actually giving the series a chance with a VR game, that way you can be CLOSER to the jumpscares that you hate."

First off, very bold of you to use my first name, and second...you can turn the jumpscare volume down...that's a big selling point.

All jokes aside, even as someone who isn't a fan of this franchise at all, it's pretty good. It fits the IP well, and I think those who are bigger fans will probably enjoy it a hell of a lot more.

I'm partially logging this because the racing mode doesn't have its own page (it is a fun mode, btw), but between the racing mode and the Rock Band mode (oh, and the Lego thing is cute, too), they did something I never thought anyone could do:

Make me want to play Fortnite.

It is a little annoying having to pay for songs to play them out of the daily rotation, but...as someone who spent years being addicted to Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I can't approach this game mode without a bit of bias. It's too damn fun to play.

I didn't find it as fun as the other new game modes, but it's still a cool little Minecraft-esque game.

I'd probably enjoy it more if I played it with friends.

Now, I can definitely meet a meme game in the middle most of the time, but I do feel like this game wears itself thin just a little bit.

But then again, it's Goat Simulator, so...go nuts.

This is among the most gameplay hours I've put into a game that I ended up dropping. I got through (according to my PS5) almost three-quarters of the main story, but I couldn't bear to put up with more.

My 10ish hours on the game were largely miserable, and then this bland, stale, empty, repetitive open-world game had the gall to be grindy? Nah, my patience got worn too thin with this one.

Honestly, I'm surprised a game of this quality was what caused a culture war months ago.
