You need to hop on smt nocturne soon

Recommendations:

Mega Man Zero Series + ZX (Advent ain't that good)
Dark Souls II SOFTS (it is fun believe me)
Strange Journey if you have a ds around
Like a Dragon: Black Panther*
No More Heroes 3
Immortality is somewhat interesting, not for everyone though
Dark Dreams Don't Die, it was my introduction to Swery (maybe not the best one)
Any Silent Hill made by Team Silent is a safe bet
Any Castlevania before Synphony of the Night (Specially Bloodlines and Castlevania 3 if you watch the series on Netflix)
Any Castlevania before Lords of Shadow (haven't played most of them)
Fallout New Vegas base game if you are into heavy roleplay
Kane & Lych Dead Man and Dog Days, not good games mind you but the style is awesome. Play both if you have nothing to do in a evening.
Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2
Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan is really good, the translated playthrough should be more than enough to understand the main story but if you are into 100% completion that would be much harder

@Moister

Smt nocturne is one the list

I tried and really disliked the og megaman games, but sure, ill give zero a shot.
DS2 is a game i have tried playing 3 times and always dropped. A 4th time is inevitable
Strange Journey I just put on my ds actually.
All the yakuza spinoffs are already things ill check out, nmh3 aswell as the rest of ktp
immortality i havent heard of, but ill try it out.
D4 i have heard of, just havent delved into swery. Will check out this one aswell.
silent hill is on the list
ice played the gba castlevanias. Will play symphony and will hop into the rest from there. Ill try bloodlines after since i watched the show.
fallout new vegas is a game i want to love, but open world games just arent my jam sadly.
kane & lynch ill give a look.
DDS i am actually downloading as i type this lol

Doom II and Final Fantasy VI, not sure if you have any interest in Final Fantasy (since none is on the backlog at the moment) but VI is a good one to start with and one of the best of course, Doom II is peak Doom and you seem to be a Doom fan already.

@septns

FF is actually on my wishlist, ill (probably) play them after I played the SMT games I want to

Doom II I never actually got around to. Ill add it.

I get what you mean it's hard to really get into multiple JRPG series, I basically only play SMT and FF myself lmao, but yeah there's plenty of good SMT games out there so hope you enjoy them!

3 months ago

@septns I think I will. First JRPG series I'm finishing up is gonna be trails though i think, as i am already 5 games in

13 Sentinels
Psychonauts 2
Chicory a colourful tale (wholesome pick)

@wollom added all 3!

Don't know you or what your tastes exactly are, but I'd recommend 50 Cent Blood on the Sand, Burnout Paradise, Silent Hill 3, Hypnospace Outlaw and My House (it's not technically a game, but it's still really great). Seconding Moister on Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days.

Would like to recommend more games but most are on the backlog and I don't want to risk recommending something I haven't played first hand.

@paq250_

some of these are on my list, some are not. I added the new ones.

@kyonelitist
Im probably gonna get into silent hill once ive finished the resident evil series. God hand is something i want to get around to this year, and xenogears looks great but ive just got a ton of jrpgs to get through atm. Appreciate the input though!
I usually play games for the story anyway, so seems like ill enjoy it.

Hotline Miami 2
Cyberpunk 2077
and the Kenji Eno stuff like D (no Shokutaku)

@LaynXYZ

HLM2 i played (and is a game i deeply love)
Cyberpunk never really interested me as I'm not a big open world rpg guy, but i miiight give it a shot. in the far future.
Kenji Eno, I am ashamed to say, I have never heard of in my life. I will be checking out for sure.

3 months ago

Oh mb I didnt see you logged the other HLM2 version I only checked the first one I saw lmao
Cyberpunk yea I understand why you wouldn't be interested in it, though it's something I'd highly recommend to anyone that hasn't played and likes stories in video games, open world rpg fan or not, so I hope you enjoy whenever you do end up getting to it
Also yeah Kenji Eno's works are some what of a niche thing I've been into for almost a year now and I really want more people to get into them since they're pretty short games regardless
There's also an hour long documentary about him that released 2 months ago, featuring a bunch of more well known game designers that worked with him, called "Memories of Kenji Eno" if you wanna check it out
