(As of patch 7.3.3/November 16th) I picked the game up back in 2019 and absolutely did not like it. In the last year however, Behavior has made an incredible effort to balance the game in a way that makes the game much better to play. A game that relies a lot more on skill and discourages poor plays. Sure, there are still some balancing issues and bugs, but that's what I would expect of a live service game made by a smaller, independent team. It took 6 years after launch, but now is the best time as a newcomer to play. Just be sure to pick up the game and the DLC's you want during a sale, and get the game on steam.
