The whole thing honestly felt like a waste of time, but I'm glad I didn't skip it even though half of my friends told me to skip it and the other half told me to play it. The good cutscenes somewhat made up for it. Also hate the combat in this one compared to the others.

For all of its faults, Callisto Protocol really had me invested in both the gameplay and the story. It isn't perfect and there are a lot of things they could have done better in hindsight, but I really enjoyed it and the ending left me wanting more. I didn't experience any problems on the console I played it on which probably made me lean more toward making a positive review than a negative one since I have only heard bad things about the PC version.

I am replaying the entire series in release order, and I was especially excited to play this one. It does not hold up well in 2022. It sets up the games that succeed it, but that's honestly about it. The game isn't that fun and doesn't really have that much going for it. The main story consists of having to do 3 investigations (minigames) to unlock the main target, and repeat until the game is over. The parkour made me want to delete the game entirely at times and the repetitive nature of the game made me ask myself why I was playing and made me consider skipping it on more than one occasion. Don't even get me started on that ending and how lackluster it was. It might not be a popular opinion, but I felt so strongly about this that I needed to write this.

Fun multiplayer but clearly centered around making money. You can't acquire anything unless you spend $10/20 in the store. The battle pass is predatory and barely gives you gear to make the pass worth it. Singleplayer premise sounds cool, but it's extremely repetitive and isn't satisfying. The same 2 biomes/area types across the entire game, even during the missions. (forerunner underground or outdoor plains). 343 is scrambling and working to 'make things better' after the backlash, but the game should've been in working condition and full of content from the get-go, and they shouldn't pretend it was a finished product if it's going to be sold at $70.

Honestly the best one. I've never been more excited for this series.

I liked this game so much that I decided to write a quick little review on it. It was my first time playing this gem, since i never played the original that was released in 2010, and I originally started the series with NieR Automata. I was honestly surprised by how good it was. I'm a fan of JRPGs, but there are very few that got me as invested in the story as this one did. Worth the money and worth the time.

Half-decent RPG. I'm a big fan of the genre, but this JRPG has an overwhelming amount of pointless dialogue that drags the game on to nearly 60 hours even if you play the entire game with turbo-mode on, and skip through unimportant dialogue. You will spend 90% of your time reading uninteresting character interactions and 10% of your time actually playing the game (walking around, combat, browsing stores)

I've never been as disappointed in anything as I was of this visual novel. Not even worth going through, even if you somehow get it for free.
