One thing you can be promised in a Sonic game is that the music is always gonna be a bop.Sonic Colors is classic fun,it's full of vibrant colorful environments swarmed by cute aliens called Wisps that give Sonic all sorts of powered up abilities. The Nintendo aesthetic is strong with this game,it straight up feels like a 2D Mario platformer at times and it's not necessarily a good thing. There's a lot of 2D gameplay sections that just slow Sonic down where he has to undergo multiple platforming shenanigans, some can be fun but it also ruins the momentum of the game.Sonic is supposed to be fast and dashing through the stage as quickly as possible. It retains the Unleashed gameplay from the previous entry and some of Sonic's moves that he utilized from that game are uhh nerfed in this one.He can no longer drift or side step whenever he pleases and can only do so when it's prompted which is weird. There's less 3D gameplay which is another bummer and I'm pretty sure it's because of the wisps inclusion, since a majority of them are only able to used when Sonic is in 2D.I'm not crazy about the wisp powers either, there's a few I really like.White wisps give Sonic the power to do his iconic boost move which is something Sonic should be able to do normally but whatever.Cyan wisps give Sonic the ability to shoot himself like a laserbeam that can teleport him in an instant and bounce off of walls.Yellow turns Sonic into a drill where he can burrow underground and underwater to discover secret passages that can lead him to encounter the red rings,a collectible that can unlock levels in the game zone (A half assed arcade like side content minigane) Orange transforms Sonic into a zooming rocket that propells him skyward.Blue wisps have the ability to turn blue blocks into blue rings and vice versa which is probably the worst wisp in the game. It's so boring and the levels featuring this wisp are supposed to be a puzzle like stage but they really aren't,they're just tedious to delve into.Green wisp has Sonic become a hovering saucer that can use ring dash(an ability that Sonic has known for many years and should be able to do it without the need for an alien) Pink wisp makes Sonic become a pink spiky ball that clings to everything and you can use it to navigate places high up that you couldn't normally access and finally my favorite one the Purple Wisp,a very violent wisp that turns Sonic into a hungry hungry hippo, devouring anything in its path and the more it eats the bigger it grows. All in all the wisps are fine but they are the defining factor of the game and some of them utilize some of Sonic's past abilities that he has used in past games. Therefore some of Sonic's iconic moves such as the Spin Dash and Light Speed Dash are gone as the wisps have "stolen" them.Revisiting the same stage over and over again can also be a bit tiresome with six acts and a boss for each world,I would have enjoyed it more if there were more planets to explore since the game takes place in space. Some of the levels also don't even have wisps included in them which is a big wtf moment. They're mostly platforming specific levels but get boring fast.Sonic Colors is fine, childhood me enjoyed it way more but going back to it just felt neutral. Also why did the Wisps keep coming back in future games with little to no explanation
I also don't like the direction Sonic Team went after this game, the sonic games started becoming more kid friendly and making Sonic more comical, they also got rid of the 4kids cast that started with Sonic X and I didn't like it.Sonic Colors is a solid Sonic entry into the franchise that the younger version of me appreciated more

One of my favorite stories in gaming,I'm so glad I played God Of War (2018).Kratos as a character is godlike,he has so many layers to him and he is a heavily developed character that over the years has been carefully crafted to become this complex God.I never played the Greek mythology games but I would want to in the future.I know in those Greek games Kratos was an absolute madman and never hesitated to decapitate or burn someone who stood in his way with one of the most iconic weapons in gaming history, the Blades Of Chaos. The Leviathan Axe is also iconic,I will never forget a core gaming memory of mine where I threw the axe and it magically came back to your hands no matter where you flung it.This game is pure magic exploring the majestic looking world of Norse mythology,Kratos has caused so much destruction to the Greek world that he had to move realms 😅
Kratos is not alone in this game,he has a new family in this realm and his son Atreus is also playable albeit in a small way where he can distract enemies with his archery skills.Kratos & Atreus are a father son duo unlike any other,to see their relationship blossom but also disintegrate multiple times throughout the game was a magical sight to behold for the first time. You see Kratos as a careful and cautious individual who wants the best for his son, training him to hunt and when to properly engage in combat,he's not the short tempered hot headed God he was in the original games.
The combat is fantastic,Kratos uses his magically ice powered axe handed down to him by his late wife to behead, freeze and absolutely obliterate any enemy that stands in his way.Kratos also gains a new weapon about 2/3 into the game that will surely ignite a God Of War fan's excitement. The game also has a couple puzzle and platforming sections that remind me of the Zelda series of games which I'm also a big fan of.The score is epic, every music piece fitting accordingly to the situation. It feels like I'm ascending to heaven whenever I hear the soundtrack, sounds like it was composed by God's themselves.Even when traversing through the world there's always banter going about between the characters as well as when you're traveling by boat,Mimir will tell old stories and expand upon the lore of the lands. There's really never a dull moment in this game, one of my favorite masterpieces of all time.Everyone should play this

This game is so entertaining,I must have spent countless hours just dishing out all sorts of crazy looking visually stunning attacks on the most grotesque nasty vile pieces of demon garbage I've ever seen. This was my first ever DMC game and it kinda makes me wanna play the rest of the games in the franchise but I'm crossing my fingers that we get some remakes for the more beloved entries. Each character in DMC5 is packed with all sorts of moves and have unique varying playstyles.Nero has a powerful revolver like gun and his powerful trusty close combat sword, the unique traits Nero has that sets him apart are his exceed gauge that let's him power up his sword to allow for even more crazy attacks then we move onto his devil breakers.Devil breakers house all sorts of differentiating powers, varying from riding on a rocket while knocking out enemies, slowing enemies down and healing yourself. They break easily as they're very fragile but you can always buy more at the shop or find them laying around casually on the ground or in secret areas so make sure to keep your eyes peeled.V's playstyle is very strategy based like,he has his pet demons play for him. He's equipped with both a long and close range demon that can fight at the same time as long as you know what you're doing.Straying far from them will help V himself not take damage but if you get close you can help your pets heal the health they've lost much faster,I've seen some folks online not loving his gameplay like the others but I was a strong fan and thought it was a nice change of pace from the aggressiveness of Nero.V also has a third demon that can be summoned when the purple DT gauge is ready,a ferocious golem of darkness ready to wipe out demons in an instant.Use him when you're faced with a horde of enemies and you're all out of tricks. Finally there's my fav character in both gameplay and overall badassness,Dante! This dude has so many weapons to choose from and so many moves to use.I must have put over 80 hours into the game already and I guarantee you there's probably still a move I haven't used while playing as him,He has a sword just like Nero but he's got way more melee and long range weapons to help him wage war on demons,I'm in love with his gameplay. He's also got a unique feature in that he has 4 different styles to choose from and those styles will affect what the circle button will do,Trickster,Gunslinger,Swordmaster and Royal Guard, choose the one that best suits your playstyle or or combine all 4 to whip out some dangerous combos.DMC5's action is just the beginning, during a fight you also gotta try and maintain your stylish ranking so you can get more red orbs.More red orbs you get the more abilities you can purchase from the shop, and the more abilities you acquire then the more mayhem you can unleash on demons. You should always try and experiment with different abilities and not just use the same attacks that work well for you.I enjoy games where the combat feels rewarding, getting better stylish ranks feels glorious and the rocking soundtrack this game carries just pumps me up to the max. Some of the demons have weaknesses that can make them easier to defeat, don't just mash the button and get damaged.Try and find out how to defeat those monsters faster. The boss fights that wait for you in the majority of the levels are monumental. They are intimidating beasts but thankfully they have a health gauge so you'll know when they're gonna kick the bucket. The game's story is batshit crazy and filled with badass cheesy one liners,it's nothing spectacular and it's not on the way to win any storytelling awards but it reminds me of those action movies I saw growing up in the 2000s.This is peak action gaming at it's core and that's all I need to be happy
