game is fun, i really enjoy the exploration and the map is very dense (almost too dense, sometimes). gunplay is pretty fantastic as well. the characters, factions, and story are all quite terrible though, and it's hard to actually roleplay because you get four vague dialogue options that aren't usually that much different. not a game i'd play for the story but its a good time nonetheless

i enjoy this game in a silly sitcom kind of way. its got wacky characters and a pretty entertaining story mixed with an atmosphere and setting that fits the game really well. but i strongly felt that the character writing was lacking in a lot of areas and just plain bad in others. every element of this game's story and themes is dragged down by the main cast, in my opinion.

i ritually play this game every couple of months because it's comfortably short and very engaging to me. despite being widely regarded as somewhat of an RTS, it's very simple. the gameplay is relaxing, but it still grabs my attention from beginning to end.

i also feel that this game's atmosphere is something that isn't really replicated in its successors. there are no NPCs or other captains to talk to. Olimar is completely alone, and i think it gives this game a unique feel to it.

unfortunately, the game is docked half a star because the pikmin are dumb as hell. they keep attacking grass and picking up random objects when im trying to fight things. and then they die.

the first half of this game is excellent. saejima's part is especially great. after that, it becomes an unbelievably terrible mess of a story that gave me several headaches

it still gets 3.5 stars for having some awesome moments though. this game has some of the best scenes in the franchise (and some of the absolute worst)

couldn't finish this one. the cast, graphics, music, and combat are all pretty great, but the level design, pacing, and sidequests are just horrid. it's honestly painful to get through.

i don't really mind that they decided to change the story. it could be interesting to see a reimagining of the events of FFVII had things played out differently. From what I've seen, though, it seems that it just amounts to boring and convoluted multiverse shenanigans that exist only to shock the player instead of telling a worthwhile story

still a great game because its Persona 3, but i didn't really think it was a great remake at all. Persona 3 FES is my favorite game but it has a LOT of issues. most of the antagonists are bad, tartarus goes on for too long, the game doesn't have enough plot, the pacing is poor, and i could go on. what i really wanted out of a remake was something that doubled down on what made Persona 3 so good while fixing those issues.

what i got out of Persona 3 Reload was something that left the majority of its issues intact, didn't bother to include the full story in the base game, significantly weakened the superb presentation of the original, made pointless changes to the script that were mostly for the worse, made the overall soundtrack worse, and almost completely refrained from trying new things. the things that DID get added (theurgy, link episodes, dorm hangouts) were very hit-or-miss.

the themes were retained well. the characters were mostly retained well, and i thought some of them were even better at times. the new voice acting is excellent with only a couple exceptions. the social sim gameplay is fantastic, and social link voices were a great addition. Persona 3 Reload does a lot of good. it just doesn't do ENOUGH good to outweigh what was lost. you can find a copy of Persona 3 FES for $50 on Amazon, and the PS2 was discontinued a over a decade ago. there's no reason for this game and The Answer to cost $105 total.

fighting game stuff is pretty fun but i played this game to see what happened to the P3 characters and their characterizations are so bad it was genuinely saddening. unlike other spinoffs, this game can't be dismissed as pseudo canon, so its hard to brush off how poorly they portrayed the P3 cast.

way overhated. sure, combat is slow sometimes, and the infamous exposition dump is laughably bad, but i really liked the characters in this one and it sets a vital foundation for kiryu as a character so i cant imagine skipping it

great game overall. my only complaints are that some of the deaths feel pretty pointless and the substories are terrible

had a good story and i liked the substories but wow the combat was terrible, the ending was a mess, and its really not that important to the overall story of the Yakuza games with the exception of introducing Daigo.

it does have ryuji though and he's cool
