In my opinion the best game in the Phantasy Star series. It polished all the best aspects of the earlier entries and the presentation (using manga like panels to tell the story, like some kind of early, 16-bit cutscenes) is superb. The story wraps up a lot of what PhS1 started and even though it's not necessary to play previous entries to understand this one, it certainly enhances the exprience and resolution.

The combat system is pure, traditional turn based and your party has a maximum of 5 party members. One thing I love is that you can create macros for each party member, so you can set up a series of combos for each character to use each turn, it's fun.

I'd say the only negative is that the pacing is wonky, the story feels aimless during the latter half, which is a shame.

Still immensely fun JRPG that I highly recommend.

This one one of the most unique games I have ever played, gameplay and story-wise. I heavily recommend it

Akitoshi Kawazu is an insane person, please play it.

I played it. I finished it. And I thought to myself "that was a video game"

So eh, it's decent

Beautiful game with a great story, soundtrack and art direction.

It would be one of my favorite games if it wasn't for the horrible map design.

I like Mikami as a director and I like PlatinumGames usually.

I don't get this game honestly. It's so bland.

It's a pretty decent beat em up honestly. Especially fun on co-op.

The difficulty curve here might be the worst in the main series, it starts really hard and as the game goes on it gets easier (until the final dungeon anyway).

I still think it's a really good game and a fine entry in the SMT series, I think it gets going when you arrive to Tokyo.

Probably the best racing game I've ever played, even if I'm garbage at it.

This is one of the most refreshing JRPGs I've played in a long time. Very combat focused with an extremely different and interesting combat system, a lot of exploration and depending on where you go first or what you do the stories will go one way or another, don't expect to see eveything in one playthrough.

Kawazu's games are always idiosyncratic and different to basically any other JRPG out there and this is not different.

A super unique JRPG, divided into different chapters where you control a different character with (seemingly unrelated) stories. In the end something happens that binds them all together in a really special and interestiong way.

This game made me cry and it's one of my favorite games of all time, probably the best game Square made during the SNES era.

Thank you Takashi Tokita.

GTA but with good controls and a personality.

Unironically very well written and good.

This game made me stop playing Dragon Ball games.
