They knew what they were doing when they made this shit free. This is some Humble Bundle Choice type of shit.

What a fucking game. I went through so many emotions with this game, and even through all the frustration and confusion it was such a good experience. It has to be said that the checkpoint system in this game is brutal and sucks ass (namely the very last one), everything else is patience and memory. For the love of god, be patient. Pushing through an area after taking your time feels so good. If you like the Souls games, you gotta play this, at least try it, and if you get stuck, just go to another area you might blast through it and it'll help you get souls/items in the meantime.

One of the best experiences of the year and also one of the worst. I loved the world and loved exploring it and learning the different stories of everyone, the immersion was unfortunately marred by a plethora of crashes that I couldn't pinpoint an exact cause to. As much as I want to highly recommend this, in the state it's in, I can't.

Playing this with a controller is actual hell, definitely would be better with mouse and keyboard. That said, it's cute and all, but pretty uninteresting. This never got off the ground with me.

I wanted to like this a lot more than I did, but have to give credit to the sprite art being so well done, namely the portraits and cutscenes. The gameplay art is pretty good, but not as "wow" as the aforementioned. Was expecting a lot more tense, stealthy type of moments that never came. If you have 30 minutes to kill try it out, if you like it there's 5 endings, if you don't, you didn't lose all that much.

The edge of this reminds me of shit I would have seen as a teenager on Newgrounds in a LUL!! xD way and I guess I'm a sucker for that. Thank god they didn't fuck, but there's still two episodes so who knows. Hoping the stakes get cranked up because I genuinely think this could be an interesting game. Love the art, too.

The art in this is masterclass, completely draws you into the world and the music is phenomenal backing to this twisted, odd world. Progression is pretty straight forward, though the opening section of the game is kind of difficult. It seems to have some kind of self awareness of that based on what happens if you die 3 times. (Just die 3 times. Get it over with. There will be more.)

Love Wayne, would romance him in a VN.

This is hard to recommend to anyone, but watch a trailer, you'll know immediately if it's your kind of thing.

Great soundtrack, good difficulty, though some of these tracks I can definitely see how it would turn people off from even trying to keep going and a hilarious story that I didn't expect made this a gem of 2023.

If you played The Outer Worlds and thought it should be more complicated and shallow, boy do I have the game for you.

The demo had me really hyped up for this game, but lord is the full release just loaded to the brim with far too many dialogue options and rabbit holes to go down. Bless whoever has the time to save scum and weave through each and every dialogue option. This would have been much more enjoyable as a straight forward narrative with slightly branching paths, not full flung abruptly ending walls.

Evil Tonight is fun, challenging, short and beautiful to look at. The characters, however, are wholly unlikable, incredibly cringe. MC is constantly referring to herself as some dazzling star studded gorgeous beauty, trying to portray this big sister archetype that falls on it's face. It's not endearing, it's just weird. Enemy balancing in this game feels all over the place as well, one of the earlier introduced enemies took over FOUR shotgun blasts to kill. That's ridiculous, and a good segue to enemy placement, which at the end of the game is very annoying. It was a good time for the time I spent with it, but there's really nothing there to make me want more.

A bittersweet bite sized RPG. If you enjoy timing hits, definitely check this one out for it's battles, also the ability points for the skill tree flow like a waterfall here. Fun to just spam confirm to boost yourself high as can be.

2021

One of the best, most relaxing experiences in gaming I’ve had. Everything about this game is enjoyable. I only wish there were some sort of mode or daily/weekly to keep me coming back for more.

The best part of this game is that it takes so many genres and makes it work, the worst part of this game is it goes on for too long and the big bad has the gull to plead not guilty and request a trial by cooking... A trial by fucking cooking.

This was my most anticipated game of the year and ultimately I was not impressed, especially with the story mode, which was far too cinematic and not enough fighting in between. While I do like what story mode did and the direction the series is going, the execution of it here did not impress me.

Invasion mode is also not very fun, having to click on each space you want to move your character would be made a lot less mundane if you could open up a big overhead map and just click the spot you want them to go. Maybe fast forward it a bit, too. It's kind of slow.

I really miss the rotating towers, I also found the unlockables and how you get the unlockables to be far more enjoyable and rewarding in past games like X and 11. Ultimately, I'm incredible disappointed and with games costing $70, I don't feel like this is a series I'll be biting on again next time unless I see some truly incredible stuff coming from it.
