solid presentation and lovely art. i have more to say, but it 's not entirely positive. (to be edited)

fire emblem fates is really damn fun when you don't have the story bitching in your ear about anankos

I have never felt so much malevolent anger and violence in my life. There is no red in my rage but flashes of white caused by dice rolls that inscribe to me word of God—my faith is instilled not because I am a believer, only because I want there to be something to kill at the end of all this.

octopath is beautiful, but certainly not a masterpiece. it's not a bad game by any means, and i quite like being able to steal from npcs. however, all party members play less relevance to eachother's stories then it's concept suggests. complexity does not necessitate quality—each story for each traveler isn't bad. a bit basic. but not bad. however, it didn't feel like this big grand thing it hypes itself up to be. how can i blame the greed of hoyoverse starting on genshin (to be edited)

i'm gonna kill myself. sincerely.

i think the story is better on a replay. certainly more character driven then plot driven. the story only starts to make sense once you realize that the heroine has DID and that this takes place within her headspace. only then you can appreciate the story more, but even so, i wish the writing didn't feel so weak. i think astralshiftpro is really good at presentation, and the story here is already a step up compared to pocket mirror. it does okay for it's run. (to be edited)

miwashiba's first ever game. it's honestly not that good. while not horribly offensive, it's probably boring at worst. plays with fairy tale motifs, but i think the overall plot just feels unsatisfying. there are things that are explained more in the light novel (from which i have yet to read outside of small translated parts) however it's not accessible to the english audience in any capacity.

cute art, however. and i do miss this style of miwashiba's art. i won't be too mean since it's very evident this is their first game.

this is my favorite game. it's not a masterpiece in the slightest by the way, but i still really like it.

this is my favorite fire emblem game. is it the best? no. is it fun? debatable. is it a masterpiece? no.

i only give it a higher star then one because i'm an obsessive grinder and this fills my satisfaction of making numbers go big without the gratuitous grinding that comes alongside granblue fantasy. i also love rpgs, and generally i don't find honkai star rail to be an entire disgrace to the genre.

i'll edit my review later, but while better then genshin to me, is still at the end of the day a hoyoverse moneysink plant.

really fun, and the amount of branches of dialogue/story is quite commendable. and i think this is the most fun i've had with dnd mechanics. but i wish the third act was more optimized. the first two acts ran just fine for me, until the aforementioned act. and my computer is rather up to date in terms of its build. i believe it's still in work in progress in regards to this specific critique i have, but wyll and karlach's respective stories felt lacking in comparison to the rest of the cast. i haven't finished act three, so my opinion on that can be taken with less finality, though i imagine if it's enough to garner a public statement from the development team, then it's something that i don't need to finish act three for to account for.

really good and fun on the first run, loses its charm on a replay via gameplay. this is because the creators, for some reason, never expected players to play the other routes then their first and give it a replay. hence why it's so poorly optimized for replays (i'll grab the link later but it's been mentioned in an interview) the story is rather solid though, and easily the characters in here have enough thought that some still haunt me to this year.

i feel conflicted on whether i feel like some of the mechanics here should signal the fresh start of a new generation of fire games, or if it's only fitting for three houses's setting. (yes i have not played engage yet to see how they do it there and no i will not play it until they announce a new game so i have something to look forward too.)

i do have some gripes regarding the story, however.
