Completed Golden Deer route and loved it. Looking forward to the other routes one day.

An absolutely incredible indie game made by one (!) developer. A love letter to the classic SNES and PSOne era JRPGS, but I also noticed some nods to manga like Berserk. Great characters, a slightly convoluted story, amazing combat (both kinds of them). Despite the story and mostly ineffective Crystal/upgrade mechanic, I enjoyed every minute spent with this game.

A return to the “fantasy” part of the series. The story, music and characters are top-notch. Really the only thing keeping this from being a perfect 5 stars for me is the Trance system, which is probably the worst limit break system of any FF game.

I pre-ordered the OG game back when I was 10 years old. I remember wearing my Cloud shirt around middle school and nobody having any idea what it was. This remake hits all the feels, and the combat is fluid and good.

I got a lot of mileage out of this game once they balanced the launch issues. Immersive and fun as hell.

Took multiple tries to get into, but once it hooked me I became a fan of the whole series.

A beautiful conclusion to a groundbreaking trilogy of games. The call backs to the previous games are impactful. The gameplay is the best of the three, and a natural bridge from Dark Souls to Elden Ring.

Playing this game blind at launch was a one of a kind gaming experience I’ll never forget. I’ve never experienced a sense of discovery like this in a game before.

The best Final Fantasy game, and quite possibly the best ever video game, period.

Best story. Best music. Best gameplay.

Quality remaster of a groundbreaking game. Fixed a lot of the issues with the PSP port (especially crafting). Some things remain unnecessarily tedious, like replaying the same parts over and over to manipulate the various timelines to get all of the characters. It’s a time sink, but it’s still super fun to play and the story is amazing. Truly the grandfather of strategy RPGs.

Fine-tuned strategy combat, but the lack of changeable classes and customization really hurt it for me.

Combat and Engage mechanics are addictive and well-balanced. Story is lackluster, but the variety of builds and characters keeps the replay value high.
