First, I'll go with the positives. The single player mode was pretty good. Easily the best single player story mode in the whole series. Not counting the Octo Expansion DLC from Splatoon 2. I found it pretty fun to play a level or two between hard turf war matches or salmon run waves. Squid Roll is such a fun new mechanic! It adds another layer of depth to the movement. Sub strafing is still here and useful, and combined with squid rolling mastering the movement seems very fun. I never did, myself, but I got good enough with it to use it a bit. All of the usual fun splatoon things are still here. Just about as good as previous games.
Next, I'll go over my negatives for the game. The online experience is pretty frustrating. I played this for a good month or two with some friends and we had to deal with connection errors a ton. Then we would have to start a room all over again. Repeat the process again once the inevitable connection error pops up. I had the most fun that I ever had with a Splatoon game when I played with my friends. Sadly, nearly all of them stopped playing by now, as did I. Also the multiplayer map designs are pretty hit and miss. Most maps feel familiar to each other. They don't have as many options to approach mid. Also the salmon run ranking system is fucked. The game lags a ton when you're in the higher, more difficult waves of it. I almost never got myself to play for longer after I got my rewards for the rotation. It's unfortunate.
But yeah, I still enjoyed Splatoon 3 overall. Like any Nintendo game with online play, it has its own frustrating issues. I'm a bit sad that most of my friends fell off the game after a couple months. I had the most fun playing with them! However, I fell off it about 2 months ago now. I'll still come back to this game whenever there's a cool enough update to bring me back in, or when I feel like playing Splatoon again. That's where I'm at with this game now.
