i see a very common trend with how kojima designs his games and writes characters and plots. this is the least convoluted game i played from him and at times it could feel pretentious the way he was trying to make the game's universe weird. nonetheless, i enjoyed the presentation even though i am not the biggest fan of photorealistic games, the game systems are interesting for a player like me (i feel like you need to be a certain kind of person to even enjoy this game to begin with) and i enjoyed the peace walker-esque mission structure that he went for on this one. definitely this game goes top 5 on the kojima catalog for me.
