I liked the first Ori game a lot. This game is more of the same but better in every aspect!

The platforming was satisfying, but a bit floaty at times. The combat was really nothing to write home about, same as the first game. The new upgrade mechanics are a good addition though. And yes, they're basically the charm system lifted from Hollow Knight, except with upgrades.

My favorite part of this game is how lovely the world is, and how it actually uses dynamic changes in the environment. A frozen world that gets slowly thawed out, some obstacles melting, others coming back to life. A thin cavern full of acid becomes an expansive underwater ecosystem once you cleanse the source of the water. It was super satisfying to me and I loved every moment I spent in it.

A big upgrade of the first iteration of the momodora series! The lack of excessive buttons makes the controls more palatable. The exploration is more fun, and there's some decent bosses.

Cool to see the origin of a great series, but very rough game. Feels a lot like an arcade game, with all the clunk that implies!

no controller support is also zzz. The controls on keyboard are also pretty bad (arrow keys and then all 6 of your abilities smushed together onto QWEASD so you just keep misclicking)

The schmovement alone makes this a 5/5 holy shit it's so fun.

A metroidvania all about movement tech. Most upgrades you get give you new movement abilities. Due to the nature of finding things in a non-linear order you will often struggle your way through an area feeling like you weren't meant to make it through but by pure skill you did, immensely satisfying.

this game is the closest I've come to scratching the Cave Story itch. Fun bosses, tight controls, the hard difficulty is a great challenge. Criminally short though, and the story is essentially non-existent outside of some exposition.

Pretty good, worth the 10 hours.

The art takes a step up from reverie, but the gameplay felt a bit more dull. Boss fights felt more dumbed down both in difficulty and complexity which is a shame as they were my favourite aspect of the previous entry in the series.

I do have to give some praise to the sigil system for keeping it fresh. I switched up playstyle a fair bit by moving the sigils around and it was a lot of fun to experiment with (I ran bow focused, glass cannon, and magic focused throughout my playthrough)

Randomly picked this up, had 100 hours of super fun co-op hunting and then dropped it again wow

This game slaps (u in the face and you die)

when you take a game with 300 hours of content and give it another 600 hours + great QoL upgrades

playing this game made me physically walk outside and purchase a yakisoba pan

I loved this game, I knew I would the moment I heard the premise of being flung into unknown cultures with unknown languages, unlocking the secrets of the different people through learning their languages.

However, the way the verification system provides canonical translations felt like it stifled creativity and turned the task of learning languages more into decoding multiple ciphers of the same language. By simply providing verifications in the form of a checkmark rather than a canonical translation I feel this game could've been one of my all time favourites. As it stands, it's just REALLY GOOD instead.

i mean it's ok i guess.

Started out enjoying it a fair amount, then the pacing got kind of whack, and then it fell very flat

Shelving this for now as playing it just started feeling too much like a chore.

This game is Beautiful with a capital B. The exploration and music is also really good. Sadly, the combat gameplay loop, while really enjoyable at first, failed to change in any meaningful way over my 25 hours of playing. Combat still felt identical to the first encounter. Barely any new skills unlocked, your choices are often made for you, and the fights are too easy to be stimulating. Ultimately shelving the game due to the slowness of story and blandness of most characters not making the combat worth pushing through any more.

Most interesting FF protag I've experienced.

i like it a lot I just need to prune my currently playing list. I will definitely finish it later. (tm)
