I LOVE THIS FUCKING GAME. best game in the fucking world i wish everyone plays this game. such good characters, writing, playstyle, story, FUCKING EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD. it covers so many genres and keeps it interesting in everything chapter, and the ending is sweet but not too cheesy... dark humor usage here is so good, and designs for every character, returning species or something completely new to this game, is fucking amazing. BEST GAME LITERALLY EVER. boss battles awesome. battle system awesome. engaging. good. best game.

although i put 'finished', this game is recent, so i think more will come out soon in free updates. the five chapters ive played so far are a really fun horror experience with friends. its annoying at times, but it isnt annoying in a 'god these developers fucking suck' way. its annoying in a 'alright, we lost, let's go again gang' way. really funny at times and really excitingly stressful at other points. pretty damn good game, but fuck that spider map and the town... those spiders and ghosts are. awful.

I love this game for it's idea and overall gameplay, especially when with friends. the issue is the problems created by players, and the lack of attention given to poor gameplay mechanics that lead to this. i can complain about this game and all the camping issues and whatever, but in reality, i clearly dont care that much because i still play this game almost daily! i'm a horror fan, and this game really touches base there, as it's big licenses show and it's original characters following tropes that fulfill what licenses they cannot obtain. good game, just needs a little more attention to small issues that the community enlarges (due to all of them being fat nerds)

people are half n half about this game. as someone who fucking loved the thousand year door, i can say this is pretty damn good. it's shorter, which fits the gameplay style of it being more a traditional 2d platformer (with a 3D TWIST!!!). the story is magnificent, and the characters are written in a similar way, still dark humor and same level of witty. the ending almost made me cry, which ttyd didn't do. however, this receives a star off difference due to the gameplay not being as engaging, especially with the battle system.

played this game at least 3 and a 1/2 times. very hands-on mechanics, but still surprisingly hard puzzles. it's such a weird genre of game, like a puzzle-escape room-platformer mixture that is surprisingly fun. i can go on and on about the intricacies of the gameplay and how good it makes the game, but instead ill just say it's really good. good game. fun bosses, fun levels, fun main character!

luigis mansion is such an iconic game, managing to have people beg for a single sequel for a decade. this game, being the first of its kind (especially for a mario title), exceeds in making this game lighthearted enough for casual players and scary enough for the children to be given an impression. The designs of the bosses and the way you 'fight' a boss very fun and makes capturing them more fulfilling than just defeating them. e gadd is also an amazing addition to the mario series and is completely underrated and underused.

what a game man. the juxtaposition between its lighthearted, cutesy, and fun rpg dream world in comparison to the reality of sunny and gangs current life. once the realization sets in the real world that the amazingly innocent characters you all just met have all been split up and corrupted in some way (except kel i guess) is heartbreaking. and then it throws you right back into fun and lighthearted rpg IMMEDIATELY following some eerie fucking mystery-meaning cutscene that only makes sense at the end of the game. touching on that, i love a game with small details littered through. i got the best ending cuz i fucking watered basils flowers that were decaying, so clearly im a details guy. the reveal near the end regarding mari's death is completely unexpected, giving you almost no chance to take it in. and once you beat the game you will be rethinking your morals. it is terribly awful to see how such an event could ruin the lives of 6 young and happy children. yet, the good ending i received helps to relieve that pain. the gameplay style in the dream world is surprisingly very well made for a rpgmaker game. i expected basic ass stuff but its intricate and endearing and very fun to play. very earthboundy. the music is also like so fucking good. altogether, this game manages to incorporate everything good about an eerie, psychological horror rpg game that many rpgmaker games have struggled to incorporate in the past. it made itself its own thing as well, not afraid to stray away from the norm. the story excels in theme, morals, psychology, and philosophy, and will have you pondering about it forever. the imagery, metaphors, and overall foreshadowing all comes together in a wonderful and beautiful (good) ending.

(played on switch via 3d all stars). this game has it's major flaws. certain levels are so shit that its actually enraging to complete. the camera is pretty shit in this game, too (arguably either on par or worse than 64's). however, this game excels in certain areas, too. the direction they took in making this a beach-vacation-gone-wrong is fun and interesting. and need i remind you this game created the now-infamous bowser jr as well as the underrated and protective toadsworth? this game was trying to do something new... but it just lacks in certain developmental areas. for years this game has been said to be rushed, which would explain the certain flaws. however, for a rushed game, this isn't the worst. sure, those levels that made me rage stick out like a sore thumb in my memory, but everything else was perfectly normal. FLUDD is also a surprisingly fun mechanic to use(and character tbh). levels (or bosses) where i had to just clean up the poopy goopy messes were actually pretty fun to me. so overall, its flawed, but not terrible. nintendo tried to do something fun and different, and it paid off. to this day, piantas are still everywhere in the background, toadsworth was a staple for a while, and bowser jr is in smash. so, good for mario sunshine for being imperfect yet still enjoyable and having a fun atmosphere.

(played on switch via 3d all stars). the first 3d mario platformer! and it was pretty fucking good. while maintaining a simple story, told time after time (peach taken by bowser) and really only taking place in one area (peach's castle), mario 64 has mario travelling to a lot of areas and discovering new things! marios movement is fun, and while the camera isnt very good all the time, the game is usually pretty open (unlike certain sunshine levels) making it mostly a nonissue. the game is fun, and for a game made almost 30 years ago now, it still holds up very very well.

pretty good game! this whole game screams a tribute to horror/puzzle games from the late 90s and early 2000s, popularized by silent hill and resident evil. but it doesnt try to make the game look old and weird, it conveys its own style that you can definitely tell is modern, while still conveying that nostalgic feel. the puzzles are phenomenal, and the setting only helps master that. each room filled with contraptions and clues. the story, while confusing, isnt terrible. i didnt TRULY understand EVERYTHING about the plot, but i always appreciate paradoxical stuff and like fucking with universe-type stuff.

(played on switch via 3d all stars). this game is beautiful. not perfect... never perfect, a mario game, however, it is better than sunshine. and again, it just looks and sounds beautiful. especially conveyed by the popularity of the mysterious and immensely popular rosalina. lumas are cute too. this game was so good (and the wii sold so well) that they DID IT TWICE (although i have not played galaxy 2). this game, as discussed last time in sunshine, has a very fun and interesting theme and gameplay concept (galaxy and planet-hopping/gravity shit), and they do it better and more interestingly than with sunshine's vacation theme and fludd mechanic. the ending is also very sweet (and not horribly voice acted), a grand, sweeping view of the mushroom kingdom with some beautiful music and fun characters. bosses fun too, and levels not bad. some levels made me angry, but not as many as sunshine. and you can tell this game was wayyy more polished. the music is simply beautiful (likely due to its being an orchestra). all in all, amazing game.. and likely one of my favorite mario games.

Alice is such a gem. I am so glad I played this game. The style is horrifying and ugly, a complete opposite to what you'd expect from a story you likely grew up with. The themes are dark and tragic, and the way Wonderland is depicted as a part of Alice and her machinations, incorporating the way her trauma blocks memories via many forms of symbolism. I also love seeing characters I recognize turned into distorted versions of themself. The story is very interesting, while slightly confusing, I still find it very easy at the end to get what happened. The human characters are also interesting to see, as it depicts the real world as evenly corrupted. The game (whether on purpose or not) shows how, even though Wonderland is fake and created by Alice's mind and awful trauma... the real world and these real people are naturally awful and just as grim as Wonderland. In fact, you might even find that the real world is way worse than Wonderland by the end. I love a game with good themes, and the mechanics of the game weren't bad at all either. In fact, I found it very fun to play. I love puzzles and I love platformers, and the fighting mechanic is really engaging as well as the enemies. All in all, a very good game.

Pretty good game! x10 better than Dark Moon, which started to go down the way of Paper Mario, in the originality-sense (erasing the wonderful character design and maze-like mansion setting away). Luigi's Mansion 3 is essentially Luigi's Mansion 1 on steroids, if you focus on the two things I mentioned in parantheses. The levels are really interesting and fun to go around. Gooigi is a great addition as a puzzle-solving tool. The boss characters (despite lacking the very satisfying portrait mechanic) are really fun and pleasing to look at design-wise. The hotel setting with floors that range from being a literal Egyptian landscape to a 80s disco room are very innovative and keeps every level fresh. All in all, very good game.

Reviewed all three of these games individually. Coulda emulated them, but the switch is nice too, I guess. Some parts I wasn't sure was just the original game being bad or the emulation onto switch, but apparently this port had some problems so, a 2 star.

This trilogy of games is amazing and full of wonder, which I will describe in separate reviews of the games. The HD remasters of the sprites are great and stays faithful to the original sprites, and the games music is still very good. It helps that the games, for the most part, follow one big story. Having all three of them at your disposal in one neat package is very nice and fitting.
