In a world with an increasing overabundance of pixelated art styles or indie metroidvanias, somehow the most refreshing game in years is both of them.

Unorthodox items, beautifully handcrafted CRT-esque pixelated art, hard but intuitive puzzle design among many other things bring about a unique and singular vision that is so captivating to play.

A thrilling combination of Tony Hawk and a shooter, where you push yourself to get the highest score through tricks and kills with varied, satisfying weapons.

However, it sometimes feels like both sides of the gameplay clash against eachother, where the killing might bog down the tricks, or the tricks might get in the way of a cool shot.

It's fun, with some issues that stop me from wanting to do the second campaign.

A great looking, great sounding heist game that has made me take more risks and made me feel more tense than almost any game out there.

Buggy hitboxes and some issues with the enemies going through walls are the only things stopping this game from being spectacular.

Conceptually brilliant and really wish someone would build on it and polish it to the undisputed best heist game ever.

A wonderfully charming game that takes a basic Legend of Zelda-esque foundation and twists it in a meta, but quite engaging manner.

The best thing Tunic does is how it mixes the typical Zelda / Metroid-vania style of progression, almost exclusively locking you out of areas due to the lack of the right item, and enhances it with knowledge-based progression.

Tunic isn't exclusively based on locking you because of something you don't have, and instead by things you don't know. And this is done through great map design and an ingeniously cute Game Manual collectible, with plenty inside ready for you to decipher it

The raccoon is a liar and gaslighter, a perfect role model

Even though it is a bit easy at times and some of its caves are a little tedious, this game is a master class in design, aesthetics, and most importantly FUN.

Playing this brings about a type of joy that only a Nintendo game can really bring out.

2022

A year ago I gave up on finishing the game.

I was really impressed by a lot of it, really enjoying almost every aspect of the game, including it's difficulty, I drew the line at the final boss. It was frustrating and I really felt powerless against it.

But it never left my most recently opened games, the logo of the game taunting me every time I turned my PS5 on. Recently, I decided to give it another chance. Something that started a bit casually, quickly turned into my new obsession. Reinvigorated and with new-found determination, I put in 8 hours to optimise my build, lower my age as much as possible, and relearn the game almost from the ground up.

All that just to be met by the same wall.

But this time I kept pushing, throwing myself into it, allowing to really understand the full game and not just the version of it I've been playing. And after all that, I beat the final boss.

This game has become my new obsession and I will spend the next few days / weeks trying to platinum it. Do yourself a favour and allow yourself to be soaked into this game, it's distinct and often striking art direction, a really satisfying combat system, and 5 levels + bosses that are just so incredibly cathartic to beat.

A great indie game that truly feels one of a kind.

A great puzzle concept, with an appealing art-style, and making it based on the tower of babel really makes it a unique experience.

Just wow honestly.

Visually striking, innovative climbing system that doesn't get boring throughout the whole playthrough, and a great score that is used sparingly but VERY effectively. Similarly to Journey, a very chill experience with a great finally

The coziest of cozy games. Sometimes it's exactly what your soul needs

A really fun, endlessly creative adventure.

As literally everyone else has said, an incredible departure from the "New" series that wants to "wow" your inner child as much as possible. Incredibly charming (and really high quality) animations, fun music, some really cool additions to gameplay with the badges and a LOT of new enemies, that really make this game it's own thing.

The only gripe I have is that it doesn't feel definitive. This game makes me feel like they can do so much more, not only with the ideas they present, but with the scale of it all. Breath of the wild and Mario Odyssey felt like a complete achievement of what they set out to do, while Wonder feels like just the beginning.

The first game that FEELS truly next gen.

Gameplay wise it's a great time. All the set pieces are insane. Swinging has been tuned to hit even more like crack. I miss the gadgets, it makes you feel less like Spiderman, and more like God of War Spider edition. But it's still really fun, with the symbiote powers scratching all the best parts of my gamer brain.

However, the story is plagued by "perfect person" syndrome and really poor writing at times, which really bogs down some interesting overarching ideas. The worst offender was how everyone seemed to only have conflict when wearing the symbiote, and almost excusing it when without it.

Overall, I enjoyed the gameplay more than the first installment, but the overall experience less.

What the game loses on by not having the observatory and the library, it makes up with even better levels than it's predecessor.

Due to this and more, SMG 1 & 2 are my favorite games of all time

A great character exploration of Kratos, great performances all around, satisfying combat and everything about the directing make this one of the best games of the decade
