Playing through Metroid Deep Freeze, it's been really fun!
Good choice of the "Stealth sneaking away from Space Pirates theme for the main song" and the sprite visuals look very cool, I like how the map was color coded to match the black and light blue color scheme for the map. I like the order you get the power ups in this, it's interesting holding off on the bomb for a good awhile like what Dread did.
I really liked that you could only get the Plasma Beam due to shinesparking upward, and I managed to do it.
I discovered that Samus can do the Super Metroid thing of wall jumping up the same wall and not being forced to only jump to the side like in Fusion, though the timing is different from how it is in Super. It's so much easier to do with the Joystick on the Wii U Gamepad than on the 3DS circle pad, that's just annoying there.
Found a super cool thing, I found out there was a part in the top right half of the map where I could shinespark refresh via running constantly into sloped edges after killing two enemies in the way, and I managed to get to a part (thanks to a little save stating) where I shinesparked up to get an early Power Bomb! Now I can delete the part in that same top right half of the map above a chozo statue to destroy a power bomb block spot, and also destroy that yellow hatch I found before, allows for fun advanced tech speedrunning.
You destroyed that power bomb block spot to get another power bomb upgrade!
You went through the Power Bomb hatch and found the Ice Suit (lets you move freely under frigid water and looks cool as a greyish blue) and fought a cool dark Ridley that was black and red!
Managed to get to Mecha Ridley thanks to the Ice Suit which let you go underwater where the other shinespark part was, and you beat him after realizing you could just hold down the R button and fire while jumping in place which you didn't know in Zero Mission original (and doing it on the 3DS was far more hard on your hands due to the smaller system and since your hands aren't small like when you were a kid anymore).
Did the epic escape sequence (died a few times and reloaded with save state). Overall was really fun! Definitely a hack meant for experienced Metroid players who know the Shinespark and Shinespark run up slopes to refresh tech for sure though.
