Decent game at first, then it just gets to the point where it's not fun any longer. The RNG doesn't seem so random, and you really get the short end of the stick a vast majority of the time. Whether you are getting critted constantly, getting a lopsided amount of negatives added to your character at the end of each run, or encountering an enemy that can just attack your entire party in one turn (and placing your entire team on death's door), the game is just too frustrating to enjoy for me personally. I don't mind when games are difficult, but when the difficulty is increased exponentially by the computer getting "lucky" way too often on what is supposed to be "random" rolls, it's takes the joy out of the game.
Doing well is less of a rewarding experience and more of a relief that you're done. Every step forward in this game has the potential to send you four steps back and it's just a grating experience.
I REALLY wanted to like this game. I cotinued playing hoping that it would get better or maybe I just needed a different strategy... but rebuilding to replace characters that you lost due to completely random chance is beyond frustrating and I just had to give up eventually. Again, totally fine with getting my ass kicked, as long as it's my own fault. Just not the case here.

The game looks beautiful.
It's fun to sail, it's fun to find treasures. Then you realise everything is pretty much the same, and that you've already seen most of the game.
It doesn't really evolve after the first missions. All the island quests are pretty much the same.
No progression system, story, or incentives to go further except changing your sail colour.

Lies of P threw everything souls into a bucket and tweeked 1-2 things into sort of new ideas. There are high highs, and very low lows. My experience may differ from others, granted, by the vast majority of time I spent in the game was pretty low and uneventful. Most of the levels are a drab and dull trudge through typical souls nonsense implemented in a really tropey way. Big slow weapons are completely unviable. Your character has no poise and a slight breeze will interrupt his animations. Obnoxious level designs reminiscent of Dark Souls 2. Stuff like walking on rafters while ranged enemies shoot at you and if you get hit once you fall off and die.
There is no rhythm in this dance. There is tedium. And it makes you want to play Sekiro instead.
I will still continue playing this game, solely for searching just how bad it could become.

the second game is somehow miles better in every way than the original game, which was already complete and utter perfection.
Tons of character, a meticulously woven story, amazing visuals, mind-bending mechanics and some of the best level design I've ever seen in a game. Combined, it's an incredibly trippy ride. Without a doubt one of Double Fine's best work.
Hope to see more from Double Fine, because if this is what they cook, keep them in the kitchen.
