lacks a ton of gameplay depth compared to somethign like terraria, most of the gameplay comes from building which i dont care much for. I prefer more exploring and combat oriented games. i think it would be better if the world went downn like 2000 blocks with complicated dungeons and stuff, and a greater sense of progression

short but fun puzzle game. very worth the time

adds a lot of depth to the original portal, more mechanics, feels like more of a complete game than the original. very satisfying game. i should replay it

sakurai kind of lost it here with his balancing in this game. A lot of options in this game that feel like you should be able to punish have extremely high priority, and low lag and while they are punishable, its very frustrating to learn how to cope with all the spam and could take HUNDREDS of hours. Sakurai's design with the new characters also seems to be just put an extremely powerful move thats easy to hit, so that new people can have more fun.

im not a FPS kinda guy but overwathc is very fun. Theres some great characters and even characters you dont need to shoot, but i dont really feel satisfied when i win, and queuing up for a game is very annoying and takes too long nowadays.

4.8/10
one of the greatest competitive games out there, however its extremely hard/frustrating to learn, fox and falco are so powerful they kind of controll who you can and can not main.

played like 10 times as a kid but i dont have an adult opinion on it

lots of split second decision making, and a ton of stuff can go wrong you wont understand why for a while, pretty frustrating to make bad decisions in game deciding moments, and some games can be ruined while you have no agency over it, learning how to cope with every possible situation can take a ton of time (hundreds to thoughsands of hours) but other than that its extremely satisfying to kill people and exectute your gameplan successfully.

extremely linear gameplay, the story is literally about going for a giant walk. combat is kind of fun and the sphere grid is really cool, (even though if you actually look it up its just a really complicated straight line, but that doesnt matter becuase it FEELS good in the moment). did not bother with the post game because a lot of parts seem very bad (the lightning???)

warning: this review is from quick memory and should probably be 3x the length. will update it one day

i loved this game when i was 12 but i replayed it many many years later and it was one of the worst games i ever played.

the story has some ideas you'd think are cool at first thought, but when i replayed it, i realised its actually comepletly incohesive. (for example chapter 2 is just guiding joshua around town for some very mysterious reason thats never explained). characters have no depth to them because most dialogues are really short (for example one character that had a grand total of 34 lines constantly gets brought back up and ur expected to feel bad about her)

now for the gameplay the concept feels extremely cool, but then in actual execution it turns out way different. Pins feel really cool at first, but the more i got into the game i felt like i was just wagging my stylus around a lot, and the system cant really be as complicated as it should be because of the top screen which you have to do at the same time.

the top screen has 0 depth to it. Besides occasionally checking it to try to get your ultimate move, you can pretty much mash the right/left key, and i felt like there was almost nothing i could do to controll the damage you take from the top screen. Combining these two combat systems together just make it a tiring grind to play through.

overall i really regret replaying this game. wish i left the good memories as a kid

very spooky kids game, rooms feel great to explore and theres always something lurking around. vacuum combat is somehow very fun. they throw out a ton of creative ideas in it too. i love the atmosphere the game creates

the combat basically boils down to using bro items in repetitive minigames to optimize damage. get very tiring

the more you replay this game the more depth you see to the levels. I highly recommend trying to get your deathcount under 50 through a lot of practice becuase then you will understand where the design of this game really shines.

gravity is also just very fun to play with

very fun to create your own build, see what the skills do and EXPERIMENT (the rune system is very good). Finding armor upgrades to increase the numbers feels amazing. tends to get boring as optimization happens less and less, but still its a very fun game and i dont htink it deserves the hate. you dont have to play til end game to enjoy the game
