Simply a great game. The story was incredible for a 2d platformer. The combat systems, comboes and variety was really fun. The recoil rod was unique and har to use at first but quickly became a great tool for traversal and combat. The cyber elves get way more streamlined in this game and i like it the more for it. The only gripe i have with the game is that some of the bosses and levels did not feel top notch some levels like the sand level really are just a walk from left to right and some bosses are really easy. I also think a better system than having to keep an A rank through the game to obtain new moves would be great as the ex moves can feel locked out for new players or players that want to try to get some a bit into the game.
This is definitely my favorite of the Mega Man Zero series. Weapon Stars/Skill Grinding being removed does many favors to improve the experience. Plus, the story is the best it’s been yet, in my opinion. Dr. Weil is not deep but he’s definitely a good driving force for the story, as is Omega. I remember the stages being very fun and not as wrought by the screen crunch as the previous entries.
This is also when I really started engaging with the Cyber Elf system and enjoying it. The bosses aren’t quite as fun or well designed as Mega Man Zero 2’s from what I remember, but it’s been a while. As a downside, I really dislike the ranking system in the Zero series and especially how this game locks fun tools and moves behind its strict limitations.
This could easily be my favorite Mega Man game period but playing it in a marathon of all the X games then all the Zero games in a row is not a way I’d recommend experiencing them, since they look similar and begin to muddle together. I could very much see myself jacking the rating higher upon a replay and would love to revisit this one, more than any other Mega Man game in my mind currently.

When I picked up the X games and saw Zero, I thought "man, he's cool af". Then, I picked up the Zero games and thought "yep, he is still cool af". But it is when I played this game that I truly realized: he's simply Him bros.
It was one thing for the story and stages to be the best these games had to offer so far, but it even went the extra step of basically making the combat 2D Devil May Cry. It is entirely possible to play this game however you want, either casually or testing your skills with all the crazy stuff you can do with the combo system.
I guess some of the bosses weren't that interesting to tackle, but otherwise, this is a truly phenomenal game.

Everyone was right, this is the best one. They finally got rid of the annoying level up system and overall it's just a great action plataformer. I wasn't a fan of the Zero 1 recycled bosses but that's because i was doing a marathon and killed those guys a few days ago. I imagine how cool it must have been to have extra bosses from an older game in a gameboy advance game.
Oh, and i can finally skip cutscenes thank god.

The best Zero game thusfar and one of the best games of the Mega Man franchise as a whole.
I still don’t like the fact that you need A-ranks again to get any of the EX-skills though. Because this means that you have to rush through stages and you never get to use any of the Cyber-Elves since they deduct points from your score too. That sucks because you basically lose out on that part of the game entirely.
The stages in this game were pretty good. Cool and unique stage designs. One that stood out to me was the Missile stage, that was such a cool idea.
There were a few stages that were a bit less enjoyable like the electrifying water level and the final few stages but overall they were of a better quality than the ones in Zero 2.
The bosses in this game have some of the stupidest names I've seen, even for Mega Man Zero standards. There were also a few recycled bosses which I thought was a bit lazy. Other than that, the boss fights themselves were alright.
I liked that you can get different boots/armor/helmets in this game. That allows you more customization than Forms did in the previous game. And I absolutely loved the Ultimate Foot chip. Feels great to have all those upgrades together and zoom across the stages.
The new weapon the Recoil Rod was alright but I didn’t use it much except for some breakable blocks and some pogoing. I was happy that I did not have to retrain my weapons this time too.
A feature of this game that I didn’t really understand was the Cyberspace. Is it just easy mode? I hate how it makes the game look anyway. Everything is green. Seems such a waste of the art in this game. However, the one time you have to enter Cyberspace to fight a certain boss was a lot of fun since I had so many Cyber-Elves by that point and they all activate at once so Zero felt completely unstoppable compared to his base form.
