The game and watch version of this was the first video game I ever owned. I loved the simple loop and that combined with the speed increase as you beat levels turns it into a hypnotic rhythm game. I completed the G&W version by getting the score to reset to 0 when I went over the max possible score.

I didn’t expect much from this game and I was pleasantly surprised. The far-distance 3rd person shooting felt really satisfying and the stealth was the best feeling one since dishonoured. The 5 entertained stories you go through were ly well written and I loved being able to go back and add my previous avatars into my posse as I went. The ending was great as well with a recap of everything I did and the consequences it had in the world. There are so many ways the game can go and you really affect the world around you based on your decisions. My only criticisms is that the special skills and abilities were underwhelming. Buying better guns was more effective than trying to use the unique abilities of each character in the end.

In a year packed with amazing games, Alan Wake 2 has climbed to the top to become my Game of the year. The game is bonkers, full of creative ideas and absolute gorgeous to boot. It swings for the fences and delivers. It's creepy, atmospheric, scary, goofy, laugh out loud funny at times but mostly totally far too pretentious and up its own arse and I'm here for it all.

Amazing VR roguelite with gorgeous graphics and brilliant gameplay mechanics. You have telekinetic powers you can use to fling objects and enemies around as well as guns. The variety of levels is pretty slim and there are only a handful of different enemy types but it didn’t really bother me as throwing bad guys around and exploding barrels with my mind never stopped being fun.

Well it’s been a massive gap between completing my 5th and 6th game in 2022, I did play Cyberpunk in between but didn’t complete it before Elden Ring arrived and I dropped everything to start that game… and what a game. Elden Ring has consumed my life since it came out. It’s easily one of my favourite experiences ever and after 190hrs for my first playthrough, I’m already itching for a second playthrough so I can try different builds. Amazing game.

When I started, I thought this was a Stardew Valley killer. There were so many different quests and things to do, i was in heaven. Unfortunately, it turns into the biggest grind fest I’ve ever experienced by mid-game. It starts to require so much work and different type of resources and money to advance any stories, you’ll spend hours grinding with very little to show for it. It’s a shame, a little bit more tweaking and it could have been perfect.
