I shouldn't give this a higher score than Left 4 Dead 1, but it's virtually the same game with more content and a more active modding scene. Now, excuse me while I load up a Versus matc-

2022

This game will very likely make you say "Holy shit, I could have just done that the whole time?" more than once. Your first playthrough will be very different from subsequent ones, and you should take pride in that.
...though I'll admit I dropped off when the second half began. The combat was just that frustrating for me.

Super Meat Boy, but as an FPS, with an actually innovative use of cards, and featuring the bombshell that is Violet. Needless to say, I love it.
But maybe the soundtrack was overhyped, and maaaybe I turned off the voices as soon as the first cutscene ended.

Not to say that Left 4 Dead 2 is a bad game, but in hindsight, the boycott had a point. Something about this game's atmosphere just hits differently.

I said back when this came out that I hoped it would bide my time waiting for Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers to release.
I haven't touched the game for a long time now, moving on to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and its Booster Pass instead. Such is life.

I honestly can't tell you whether this or Unleashed is the best "boost" game, but what I can tell you is that Classic Sonic is a much less obnoxious gimmick than the Werehog.

They made such a big deal about "passing the whiskey", only to remove the option to spawn with Portable Whiskey in a later update. What bullshit is that!?
Whatever, still an alright game.

The Mario Odyssey of 2D platformers, encompassing its strengths and weaknesses. The marketing was real coy, pretending that "filler seeds" didn’t exist, Bowser Jr. wasn’t virtually the only boss, and every world even had a boss. But it was honest about the short length, the limited power-up roster and Yoshi’s god mode.
I was playing Mushroom Kingdom Fusion in preparation, and guess what? That game is better. It too evokes discovery with its volume of content, while also being more difficult.

Given all of the conspiracies surrounding a mandate over the Mario series (which I very much believe in myself), it feels miraculous that this turned out so fucking good.
What holds it back from 5 stars is the lack of a boss rush mode. I’ve made entire accounts on my Switch just to serve as extra save files to fight the bosses whenever I wanted to…

The Source Engine jank I know and love, except it actually isn't a Source Engine game!
Unfortunately though, Deep Rock Galactic took all of its thunder.

The Amazing Digital Circus is just the existential dread of Jevil and Spamton condensed into an animation. That’s probably why it’s skyrocketing in popularity right now.

Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart, but before Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart. And also LittleBigPlanet Karting, but before LittleBigPlanet Karting, and done much better than LittleBigPlanet Karting.
Suffice to say, I really enjoyed this one while it lasted.

I’d probably enjoy this more if I put some real investment into it, but I just can’t bring myself to see how it has changed since launch.
By the way, I remember rumors that the game had a song with "fat ass" included in its lyrics. Isn’t that neat?

Mechanically solid, but so much slower than Super Meat Boy or Celeste... I can't say I'm a fan.
But hey, at least it has Ridiculon's best soundtrack by far, and totally not because it's all remixes of classical music!

I spent an embarrassing amount of hours with the vanilla game, and when I finally got around to modding it, I only used a few tweaks and additions.
But even I got tired of visiting Draugr ruins over and over again.
