Not many or any improvements upon RE2 remake, which was fair enough already nearly perfect. I don't think the items were placed very well bc at some points I didn't know whether I should save ammo or spend it bc there'll be ammo right around the corner and so much that I can't carry it anymore. My game froze quite a few times as well. Glad I didn't get that complete game breaking freeze at the hospital.
After playing the original, I'm obviously sad they kinda rushed this one out so quickly, with the clock tower and the park missing and all. I'd have rather had the clock tower than the hospital, but I can settle for the hospital. Just as creepy as in the original game where you encounter the hunters for the first time, which are still pretty terrifying. Jill Valentine is rightfully my favorite RE character and her dynamic in this one with Carlos and Nemesis was pretty awesome. Nemesis is generally cool in this one and completely cool in the original. Here I don't like the existence of the second stage that much

I didn't even know it was a remake of the SNES game. The format definitely works better on a DS, I feel. It's a game that you should occasionally play when you have the time for it. Especially because it's a bit repetitive, if you binge play it, like I did. And it's definitely something you should be able to whip out and put away quickly, which a DS helps you with. I don't have the luxury of playing it on original hardware, so that definitely kind of soured the experience, but it was still fun and the first Kirby game I beat. He's so microwaveable :3

Alright, I'm finally burned out on this. Season 2 of Chapter 5 is probably gonna be neat, but now with Disney buying a share of Epic Games and forcing itself onto the game the future looks bleak. It's gonna be totally downhill from there. I'm definitely gonna play anytime I can with my friends, when they want to. Because those are some of the most valuable memories I have in recent times and it's always so much fun...

I think the problem is not the combat, but the problem rather is with the enemy AI and the little dmg your attacks sometimes do. It makes normal difficulty feel like hard difficulty and surely prolonged the boss battles somewhat.

The blocking wasn't really my biggest problem. At some points, like vs. Richardson 2, those were some of the fastest boss fights ever lmao
The other problem I kinda had with the AI was that some of them wouldn't even come for you when they were in masses in the last two chapters. Good thing you could just run past most of them in the hospital lol

If you mod it, you're a bitch tho. I don't make the rules.

Anyway, speaking of Richardson I thought shit couldn't be more obvious than some Ace Attorney cases. Some of the mysteries definitely didn't get really satisfying answers or rather most of them just weren't good mysteries to begin with.

The story as a whole definitely got me emotional, though. The beginning was boring as fuck, but if I was alone I'd have actually broken out in tears at Rikiya's death. And everyone giving the coupons to Ayako also got me tearing up. On that principle alone I would give it 5 stars, but I'll keep it at 4

AND YOU'RE NOT SLICK BY MAKING KIRYU FAKE DIE TWICE IN A ROW AND THEN LET THE CREDITS ROLL RGG STUDIO. I EXPECT IT TO BECOME A TROPE WHICH IS GONNA SUCK

I don't remember much from the first game, so I'll talk more about the second one, which I'm glad I recently went back to to complete. All I gotta say about the first game is that it definitely serves as a great introduction to our cast and I believe the cases in Adventures, while a bit worse paced, are better off being less convoluted and not hinging on perfect coincidences than they were in Resolve. 2-2 and 2-3 come to mind.

Speaking of the cast, I do not share the sentiment of others who say that it's annoying or you can't be attached to any character. The only problem I have with the cast is that they stagnate a bit. Not much is done with Iris or for some reason in the last few cases Susato keeps calling herself worthless and all that. No one even lifts her up lmao

Another thing is that the main villain was pretty much predictable. It doesn't have the surprise of the mainline Ace Attorney games (minus Apollo Justice), but that's alright.
The message of the game was still delivered effectively and it's an interesting look into the racist and dark history of the oh so great British Empire from the view of the Japanese. Although they should've definitely talked a bit about how her majesty was actually a terrible person too. Holmes was definitely a character they could've done that through.

Anyway, the last case of the second game was a good conclusion, even if not all of the mysteries have been entirely solved and it still leaves a bit to be desired for me personally.

The gameplay in general was a change of refreshing and repetitive, depending on the case. The final deduction dance is what I hope for, if we ever get DGS3. I don't see DGS3 really happening, though. We could get something similar for AA7, I hope. Just imagining Phoenix, Apollo or Athena doing them is fun. Maybe even Trucy or Klavier. What I always hope from the Ace Attorney games is that we get more characters to play as in certain sections and also that maybe once in a while our defendant is actually guilty.

Well, I've still got the Escapades and dev notes to go through for now

Ugh wow. This was just full of filler. You could cut at least like 5 chapters. I don't know if this is gonna be a reoccuring trend, but none of this stuff was really set up in Kiwami.
It's not a bad thing, but they just didn't know how to bring old characters back and introduce plot threads like that, so they stupidly shoehorned it in somehow. Confusing af. The final fight was obviously high kino though, and maybe on a replay in the far far-off future it'll all make sense.
Anyway, I am gonna be open-minded towards Yakuza 3, I do believe Kiryu fucked and Majima keeps cementing himself as the best character ever
