My first time playing this game in Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, and for Mega Man's jump to Super Nintendo, I say it was solid conversion, but not great

For the positives, this visual presentation and the spritework are great, Mega Man feels good to control, and the music is great. I like the new addition of the auto shop, using bolts as currency to buy items like Energy tanks or 1ups

For the negatives, for me it's the difficulty. It was easy and sometimes decent through most of my playthrough, and then there's Dr. Wily's stages. Easily one of the worst Wily castles in Mega Man alongside 1 so far, and don't even get me started on the final boss. The 1st phase was easy, but the 2nd phase was obnoxious. Wily will shoot 4 orbs, and there are fire, ice, and lightning elements, and they are tricky to dodge. The fire element is the worst since that would take the most amount of damage than lightning and ice. You might need to look up a guide if you want to beat him, and remember to breathe and concentrate, and it'll be all over

Overall, it's a solid Mega Man game, but I wouldn't say it's one of the greats in my opinion. If they could tweak a few things like Dr. Wily's 2nd phase, then could've be in my Top 5, but for now, it's 3.5/5 for me or 7/10

F-Zero on its own is a fine racing game for the SNES. One of the first games to use Mode 7 graphics, and visually, it looks nice. The soundtrack and tracks are decent (White Land is my favorite, btw), and the gameplay is challenging but fair

So why am I giving these 3 stars? I did say that the gameplay for F-Zero is challenging but fair, but only in Beginner Mode. Whatever I do or what I do in Expert Mode, I get pinballed whether I mess up a turn or the high-octane racecars. They look nice, but my God, it might just be me, but I don't like the rubber banding here in Expert Mode. It's like you have to play the game flawlessly, and I don't have the skill level to beat Expert Mode, unfortunately. I can beat Normal Mode with a bit of practice, but not expert, sadly, so that's why I feel like its labeled under Played, but I'm testing out the new updates. Also, the courses can be a bit repetitive with not much variety. I like the ideas they have with some tracks, like the ramps and the ultra shortcuts, but overall, meh

F-Zero is solid for what it is, but it can be frustrating at times. It has its charm, but like with Super Mario Kart, it's going to be hard for me to come back to this game

Kirby's Dream Land is very short but enjoyable. Of course, being the first game in the series comes with a few flaws. Movement can feel a bit weird at first but will get used to later on. Controlling Kirby is a bit weird mainly because instead of like using A to jump and inflate Kirby like a balloon, you use the D-pad to let Kirby fly which feels a bit awkward and was the result of some of my deaths. I didn't have much of the slowdowns that many people have experienced, but you'll encounter a few areas that have it

Since copy abilities weren't featured yet, swallowing and spitting out enemies feels nice. Honestly, it's quite impressive that so much personality and charm was able to run on a Game Boy in 1992. While it is short and can be beaten in under an hour, I feel like it's worth playing just to see where it all started for Kirby

I gave Fall Guys another chance, this time on PS5 after not liking it before on Steam and not giving it a chance back then

I think Fall Guys is fun with friends, and in short bursts, in single player as well. I also like the collaborations that they've done with other franchises like Sonic. However, it does get tiring since you'll be repeating some of the same stages many times, and the stages that I like are the platforming ones. I did say it gets fun, but it can also be a bit frustrating with the physics and all, but will get used to it for a little while. Now I only played 10+ hours of the game, and it may not seem like a lot, but I think I've seen mostly everything of what this game has to offer

Overall, if you have a group of friends, Fall Guys is a solid multiplayer game, but I don't think this'll be something I would sink 100 hours into. I will come back from time to time for the future collaborations

I've only played this for like 30 minutes, but I think I've seen what Nintendo Badge Arcade has to offer. Nintendo Badge Arcade is a claw game where you can get a few free plays every time you come back to the game, but you're mostly going to spend real money if you want to get some of the goodies to decorate your 3DS.

I say the best thing about this game is you can use those badges to decorate your 3DS and you can get free themes when you're rewarded for increasing your badge collection. It's cool that you can do this, but I'm not sure if I'm going to use these on my 3DS, maybe a few icons, but that's it. It doesn't help that this free-to-start game is going to be useless due to the 3DS eShop shutting down in 2023. At least I got to experience it if that counts

I've wanted to finish this for quite some time now, and I'm glad I did. A Hat in Time is an excellent 3D platformer that oozes charm and personality with its vast cast of enjoyable characters in each scenario of each specific world, making each level more enjoyable and memorable with solid platforming. Hat Kid feels so good to control and has a variety of hats, powerups, and badges to use, which are fun to use and mess around with when defeating enemies or finding secrets. Also, the music in this game is excellent, and the voice acting, in my opinion, is solid

A Hat in Time takes elements from previous 3D platformers in the past that we love and tweaks and modernizes them, making it distinct from other 3D platformers. It is easily one of my favorite indie games of all time and is easily in my Top 10 when it comes to 3D platformers. A Hat in Time is an easy recommendation for those who love the genre of platformer/collectathon games, and I'm looking forward to checking out the DLC and what Gears for Breakfast will create next in the future

Toree 3D is the most surprising game to come out in 2021 and I played this a year later. Anyway Toree 3D is a simple 3D platformer with 9 levels, has decent music, and the visuals have a nice retro vibe to it with some spooky elements into it surprisingly. The game is easily replayable since it only takes about less than an hour to beat, and it is easily worth $0.99. I probably wouldn't dare trying to get S ranks at the moment, but maybe in the future I will attempt it. Certainly is a better 3D platformer compared to the dumpster fire of 2021 that is Balan Wonderworld that's for sure

Let's just get this out of the way. Hello Neighbor is not a good game. I've been watching videos online about how this game is terrible, and I've wanted to try it out myself, and my God, they were right

First off, the story is a convoluted mess leaving us more questions than answers, which is probably why they always want MatPat to dissect everything Hello Neighbor has to offer, like every other indie horror game. Since there is no voice acting when you get caught by the neighbor a certain amount of times, there is a playable story scene looking at the neighbor's past and why he is acting suspicious. When playing through these playable scenes, it fails to tell me anything besides making us feel bad for the neighbor, which doesn't intrigue me in the slightest

The gameplay and story are split into 4 acts, and each act after the first gets worse once you put a little more time into the game and see all the game's flaws. Act 1 starts with a standard house with ok puzzles trying to find the key to open the door. Then the second act comes, and you have to escape the neighbor's house, and you'll notice the upgrades to the place, which is bigger and worse, especially the later puzzles that have some baffling solutions, to the point where it doesn't feel like a house anymore. And due to the house being more extensive, the neighbor will have a hard time catching you with those upgrades he has made to his place, which makes the stealth in this stealth horror game feel like a joke

I haven't even mentioned the game's physics yet, but it is also terrible. Something as simple as stacking cardboard boxes is frustrating because it feels like a game of luck trying to stack them to reach a platform part of the roof. Not to mention you'll have a moment where colliding with objects can launch you way up in the air because screw real-life physics am I right?

In Act 3, you will encounter a few minigames when you reach a specific area of the house, and clearing each of these will give you a particular ability that will be used for the final act, and playing through these minigames is the worst to come out of this game. My least favorite out of all of these is the cart minigame, where you have to pick five items and place them into your cart, which is another challenge; you can't tell which items are correct because there is no list, so it's all trial and error. There are these mannequins that kill you for some reason, and your only options to avoid them are by running or your invisibility by ducking, which doesn't even work most of the time. And you are forced to do these minigames, which makes all of them not fun to play. When I got to the final act, I just wanted to be done with the game, and I'm glad I did while being rewarded with a terrible ending. Also, the presentation and the character designs, in my opinion, look hideous. And it can't be a terrible game without bugs and glitches. I didn’t get softlocked, which would've made me have to restart the level, but I guess I was lucky because I was playing the PC version of the game, and I heard the console versions were worse

If you're looking for a good stealth horror game, I suggest looking elsewhere. I've wasted 6 hours playing this game, which feels way too much for a game like this, and the same can be said with its price of $30. I never played the early Alpha versions, but they look much better than the full release. Now there's a sequel coming out soon, so we'll have to see if it's an improvement over the original, but for the time being, my advice is don't buy the game unless you like torturing yourself by playing terrible games. It is easily the worst game I've played this year, and I don't see a reason to return to it anytime soon

Mega Man 8, the most divisive game in the series. I finally got the chance to finish this one, and I immensely enjoyed it. Overhated? Yeah, a bit. Does it have some bs moments? Absolutely, I will get to those later, but let's start with the positives

The visuals look beautiful; easily the best Mega Man game visually, that I wish we had more Mega Man games in this style. The anime cutscenes are beautifully animated, even though the voice acting is in the "so bad it's good" camp, I still like watching them. The music is also good; the Intro Stage is such a chill bop. The gameplay and controls are solid. Mega Man feels so good to control with no lag involved, and I can say the same with the stages, well, mostly, but I'll get to that later. The robot masters provide a decent challenge, and it feels satisfying once you defeat them. I had a fun time beating all the robot masters, and the powerups you get after defeating them are primarily decent. My favorites are Flame Sword, Water Balloon, and Flash Bomb. I also like collecting all of the 40 bolts scattered throughout the game. They are used for the shop, led by Roll, where Mega Man can upgrade his weapons, and it's cool that we can do this (my favorite is laser btw).

Now let's get into the stuff I don't like. Remember when I said earlier that most of Mega Man's powerups that he obtained are decent? Well, here's the Thunder Claw. Don't get me wrong, the Thunder Claw is a good weapon if you want to defeat enemies like you're swinging a whip in Castlevania, but it's not suitable as a grappling hook. The timing to grab the grapple points is so strict, and if you fail, you're most likely to die and lose a life for something that should've been easy to grab. Dr. Wily Stage 1 is the worst example of this, leading to my least favorite thing about the game, the board sections. Two levels have this, and at first, I thought it wasn't bad when I encountered it in Frost Man's stage, but when I got to, again, Dr. Wily's first stage, and with so many deaths thanks to that board section at the beginning, it started to piss me off. Now not all of the new things are bad, I enjoyed the Rush shoot 'em up parts, but that's the only new thing I like

After hearing the screams of Mega Man dying most of the time in Dr. Wily Stage 1, the rest of the stages after that won't be much of a problem. Yes, I didn't have much trouble with the Rush part of Stage 2 as some people did, I just wanted to point that out as well. Also, never in my life would I say a devil fight was enjoyable, but here I am with Green Devil. After defeating the eight robot masters again, it's time to face Dr. Wily. He has two phases like in 7, but the second phase in 8 is much better executed than it was in 7, and that alone is a plus; still challenging though.

Overall, I enjoyed my time with Mega Man 8. It is a flawed game, but I recommend giving this one a shot. It's a little more forgiving, similar to most of Mega Man 6 and 7, but it still provides a little challenge. If you want to play this game, go with Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, available on all platforms. Just to let you know that this is the PS1 version and not the Saturn version. The Saturn version is a bit different compared to the PS1 version with slightly different music and two additional bosses, which are Cut Man from Mega Man, and Wood Man from Mega Man 2. It is unfortunately expensive online, so your best bet is to emulate it if you're curious

Ranking the games from the Legacy Collection 2 so far, I like this a bit more than 7

After two non-NES games with the SNES and PlayStation, the series decided to go back to 8-bit. Mega Man 9 harkens back to Mega Man 2, as we can no longer slide or use the charge shot. I'm disappointed that has been removed for Mega Man in this 9th entry, but the levels and weapons made up for Mega Man's limited abilities

The story involves Dr. Light being blamed for Robot Masters going on a destructive rampage. Dr. Wily has no connections to these incidents, so it's up to Mega Man to fight for Dr. Light's innocence and expose Dr. Wily. It's a solid plot, even though it is clear already that Dr. Wily is behind everything, no surprise. I'm not going to talk about the rest of the story since I'm sure your favorite YouTubers have spoken about the whole plot in their reviews, so let's just move on to the gameplay

Mega Man 9 easily has the best weapons in the entire series that make up for your missing charge shot. My favorites include the Black Hole Bomb, which can suck up enemies and projectiles and does some crazy damage. The Diamond Sattelite is the best shield in the series, no doubt, since it can protect you from harm, and something like bullets won't even wear the shield off; you can keep it on and release it whenever you like. Like from 7 and 8, the bolt shop returns, and the currency returns to screws you've picked up from your adventure like in 7 instead of collecting all the bolts like in 8. Just a reminder, before you go to Wily Castle. Make sure you stock up on energy tanks because if you run out of them and are stuck on the levels because of your lack of E tanks, you have to start all the way back to Wily Castle, so use your E tanks wisely

During your journey to Wily Castle, obstacles will be in your way, like the Twin Devil. I was frustrated with it at first, but remember to be patient and recognize the patterns, and once I've successfully defeated the devil, the more I think that this boss wasn't all too bad. Anyway, once you've beaten the eight robot masters again, make sure you have a few energy tanks for the Dr. Wily fight. You'll need them since he has three phases

Overall Mega Man 9 is a solid entry in the series. It has solid music, weapons, and bosses, and I can see why it's a favorite for some. I consider this to be the most challenging but fair Mega Man game with fewer bs in your way. I guess that means it's my favorite, right? Well, no, and I'll tell you why. Since we're back into 8-bit visuals, there's not much different here compared to previous games before it since this is the 9th damn entry that was released 12 years after Mega Man 8. 2, 5, and 6 are still my favorites in the series with 9 being in my Top 5

There's one more thing before I wrap up this review. After you have completed the game, you'll unlock the extra modes that were initially DLC back in the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii days, including the method to play as Proto Man for the first time in a mainline Mega Man game. He has the charge shot and slide that was missing in Mega Man's adventure, but he takes double the damage as Mega Man meaning more deaths for me. I didn’t get far into Proto Man since I wanted to move on, but maybe in the future, I'll commit to finishing Proto Man Mode, but not now, since I have one more game to get through the Legacy Collection

Mega Man 9 is my favorite out of the games I've played in Legacy Collection 2, and I recommend it to those who are fans and newcomers to the series

Mega Man 10 was honestly a bit of a surprise. I wasn't expecting it to be enjoyable, but here I am, writing this review. Mega Man 10 is another NES-style sequel like with 9, but with fewer bs involved

Let's get the usuals out of the way. The gameplay, the visuals, and the music are all great; no surprise there. Like with 9, Mega Man doesn't have the charge shot or slide but makes up for it with its levels, except way better here than its predecessor. The eight Robot Masters here are fun to fight against, and the weapons themselves are good, not like Mega Man 9 good, but solid as it is. My favorites include the Water Shield and the Commando Bomb.

The story involves all robots getting infected with a disease called Roboenza, and Mega Man has to stop those Robots Masters from going haywire while hopefully finding the cure to this disease. I like the story here, and rarely do I talk about the plot of the classic Mega Man games because they aren't all that interesting for me to talk about. Easily the best story out of the classic series; not that's saying much since every Mega Man game is about Dr. Wily attempting world domination and Mega Man trying to stop him, but I just thought the story was worth mentioning here

After beating Mega Man, you'll unlock extra modes such as Hard Mode and be able to play as Bass. Yes, I know it's not the first time Bass was playable; that was Mega Man & Bass (I haven't played it yet), but it was cool seeing him in 8-bit. I only played a bit of him, but first impressions are solid. I like how he shoots in multiple directions, and I like how we can use his dog companion Treble to fly. I'll come back to this game some time to hopefully continue playing as Bass and get started on Proto Man.

Overall, Mega Man 10 is a pretty good Mega Man game in my eyes. Nothing much I can say about this one since it's like the previous nine games, but it’s easily a must recommendation for fans and newcomers. Out of all the games that were in Legacy Collection 2, this is probably my favorite one

This is a solid compilation of the NES hexalogy of games, and is a great start for those who are looking to try the series out. That's how I started getting into Mega Man

This is clearly the oddball compilation out of the two with an SNES game, a PlayStation games, and two NES style games, but still enjoyed them all. Like Legacy Collection 1, this is the definitive way to play Mega Man 7-10. If you are someone who enjoyed the first Legacy Collection, then I recommend picking up the 2nd.

NieR:Automata is a beautiful game that tells a tragic story about the war between androids and machines, and the importance of humanity. The combat is tight, the characters and world building are wonderful, it has beautiful music, and the endings are beautiful, especially after the credits of Ending E, it's a really nice touch

There are a few minor things that hold it back for me from being five stars, and that's with Route B, aka 9S' story. The beginning section doesn't have checkpoints, so if you die or get the joke ending, you start all the way back to the beginning. And there's the factory mission in which I'm not going to spoil, kind of frustrated me

If you love NieR Replicant, you'll definitely love this game. It is a must recommend for any action RPG fan and Platinum Games' fan alike
