When it's flowing... It's untouchable. Satisfaction in every sense. There's a few points where it completely loses the flow however and it suffers for it, annoying enemy types and set pieces that now and then pull the handbrake for a good few minutes.

Them last few dungeons are brutal...

2023

An improvement in nearly every way from F1 22, just wish there was more additions instead of just fixes.

When I look back at it my two favourite Street Fighters are the ones that hit you square in the face with their unashamed style and presentation... Third Strike and Alpha 3. This is a game that oozes style. Also World Tour mode is so god damn fun. Fingers crossed they add my boy Alex or Dudley... Maybbbbe Sodom? Please? Capcom?

An audible and visual delight. Haven't played a racing game with this much style since R4 Ridge Racer.

I remember thinking that intro CG cutscene was the hypest shit when a friend brought this game over to play on my PS1. Playing it again... Well I have some feelings.

Disc 1-2 are pretty good! once you get used to the awful junction system
Disc 3 is okay... starts to crawl a bit in terms of pace
Disc 4 might be the most frustrating experience I've had in the entire series. Unrelenting enemies, counter-attacks galore slowing battles right down, pacing shits itself. Just absolutely tedious.

Does it deserve the hate? Not as much as it gets, but still definately deserves a bit.

My personal favourite Metal Slug, played this so much on MAME as a kid not long after it came out.

Metal Slug 2 but bigger & better

I played so much Metal Slug 2&3 as a kid. Some of the greatest sprite art and animation around. HEAVY MACHINE GUN

Remains one of the greatest fucking games of all time. Has it's flaws due to its age, mostly navigation wise but its such a masterpiece you can look through that. Soundtrack, characters, combat, visuals are all kino

Benimaru is such a fucking crazy character to play as

Missing alot of the charm of the original, felt a little inconsistent at times with a not great story and an awful ending. Although I am glad Mirrors Edge didn't get completely forgotten as a series I would have liked it a proper Mirrors Edge 2 or perhaps a bit more time in the oven.

Amazing flow to the game, borrows its fair share of stuff from Doom Eternal but that's a good thing. Works in an amazing soundtrack with some absolute legends from the metal scene. The difficulty spike is a whiplasher though... Managed to get through the entire game without dying UNTIL the final boss which started to thrash me a new one. Hopeful to see what the future DLC brings musically... The first one has vocalists from Lacuna Coil and Lorna Shore which is an amazing start. Bit on the short side but infinitely replayable.

Resident Evil 4 (2005) Is my joint favourite game of all time, I've owned and beat it on multiple consoles... So to say I was cautiously excited for this remake was an understatement. I'm glad to say it's up there with REmake 1+2 in terms of quality.

It keeps so many things that made the original great whilst also changing certain things to make it different for returning players, also giving the original 2005 version a reason to still be played as they feel like two completely different experiences. I ran into a situation where I remembered that in a certain area there was a bear trap hidden in a blind spot, sure enough it was still there and I felt great knowing my previous knowledge saved me...
only to be cut down in my tracks as i got jumped by two ganados who were not there in the original. It was also an absolute joy to see Regenerators and Garrador in the RE Engine.

There are still gripes I have with the game however... Ashley's AI seems a lot worse and erratic than the original, I ran into way more situations where she was a hinderance.
The AI seems so desperate to stay out of the way that it actively gets in the way more often (no matter what formation you have her set on), I also wish there was a few more iFrames coming out of melee attacks. The difficulty descriptions are VERY misleading, the Hardcore mode description is "For People Who Have Played Resident Evil 4 (2005)" and so I picked that my first time through and it is WAY harder than original Resi 4's Professional mode. I beat it on Hardcore first time through but I would still highly advise your first playthrough be on the Standard difficulty.

All in all its a GOTY for me and one of my favourite Resident Evils now, it plays like a Character Action game at times with the parries and movement options, everything looks and sounds amazing, its faithful to the original but respects it enough to not be a carbon copy. It's one of the greatest examples of a remake. Play it. Red9 For LIFE.
