Aesthetics and design wise its almost perfect but it's still a clunker to play. I remember even a few years after it came out I thought it was a bit janked. Still worth a play.

What a mess of a game. Runs like shit on PC, Couldn't get into the story, bland characters, didn't enjoy the time travelling, pace killing puzzle sections.

FF13 was linear and overstayed its welcome for me but I didn't feel half as burned out playing it. Out of all the Final Fantasy games I've played/replayed recently this was the worst experience.

I knew going into this it was a pretty hated entry into Final Fantasy and well... Lightning wasn't as bad as expected BUT holy shit this might be THE most linear game I've ever played.

I love everything about this game except for actually playing it... and maybe the last 5-10%

RUSH RUSH GOT THE YEYO?
BUZZ BUZZ GIMME YEYO!

Also funny anecdote, growing up almost all of my mates had this on PS2 and none of their discs worked.

Best soundtrack in the series imo

Last time I played this was 2014 when it seemed to be universally beloved. I wanted to play it again since time has divided people on it.

I still think it's an absolutely gorgeous game and pretty good, but it definitely has its problems and suffers with an unfulfilling ending. Some subjects were handled pretty badly... Still I only like it a little bit less than the first one, and 2 remains my absolute favourite.

Always did prefer it to the first one!

I'm going to say a little to avoid saying a lot... What a beautiful send up to an entire era of the series.

At first I was overwhelmed at the sheer amount of things you could do but taking it all at my own pace was worth it. Not since Metal Gear Solid 4's last cutscenes have I felt such emotion from a videogame.

A lot shorter than I remembered it being back in the day. Holds up for the most part, though you do sort of get a bit sick of the fetch quests near the end.

I remember watching my stepdad play this when it came out and being absolutely blown away by the way it looked, I still think it looks great. For the first half I was loving it but by the end I was getting frustrated with the repetitive levels, annoying enemies, small magazine sizes and weak guns.

I still think it's worth it just to play a nice DOOM horror game.

Didn't enjoy it as much as Awakened, some parts genuinely frustrating, ending pretty much came out of nowhere and didn't feel like it really wrapped any of the story up.

Bit of a dissapointing ending but definately a memorable experience.

Pretty dated and low budget but a very good entry into the series for me. I started reading A Study In Scarlet because of how much I was enjoying this game and now I'm intending to read all the Sherlock Holmes books and I've bought the Frogwares bundle on Steam. That chase scene was hillariously jank.
