Bio
My love for gaming all started on SNES with a few games, but Super Mario World was definitely the one that made me fall in love with video games, oh and of course Donkey Kong Country as well (but folded ten times over). My favorite games are from the N64 and GCN era, I've always been a Nintendo guy, but I definitely dabbled in some PlayStation, Xbox and PC exclusives too.

Still not my favorite Metroid Prime game (that would be MP2), but the fact that a modern remaster of one of the most cherished and beloved Metroid game of all time is quite unexpected on Nintendo's part.

I still find it baffling that the graphics and performance for this game runs like smooth butter compared to any of the Zelda outings as of late. Perhaps because the masked loading and segmented areas aren't taxing on the performance as a whole compared to open world games in which the framerate or graphics have to be slashed in order to maintain an adequate performance on Switch.

The thing that caught my attention the most when I saw other people review this remaster is the fact that the game allows you to chose from a multitude of control schemes. So if you prefer the clunkier GameCube controls, pointer controls from the Wii or dual analog controls, you can absolutely chose those.

As I played this game, I felt like the backtracking was absolutely obtuse compared to MP2 or MP3. Especially when you haven't unlocked shortcuts in other worlds and have to speedrun through Chozo Ruins for the umpteenth time just to go to other areas, it got stale VERY quickly. The game could've benefitted with a fast travel option if you ask me.

Other than that, like I said, the graphics are astonishing for a Switch game, the control options are excellent and the environments will always be awe-inspiring (even though they can easily fall into the "grass, fire and ice landscapes" trope Nintendo loves to put into their games).

Now I can't wait for a MP2 Remastered if that ever happens.

Don't be like me, because I finally beat Calamity Ganon after four years of not touching the game.

It didn't help that, awhile back, someone I knew spoiled me the ending when I was so close to beating it anyway (3-4 years ago to be exact). It felt really clunky controlling Link after all this time, since I'm mostly used to is classic moves from the previous 3D Zelda games.

But regardless of all that, still a pretty solid game with many memorable characters, moments, soundtrack and many many secrets to find in the vast world of Hyrule.

Took me awhile to get into it, because of the re-usage of the compressed voice acting straight from the original PS2 game.

Other than that, it functions pretty well; human NPCs are cartoony looking, missions and challenges are varied and of course, destroying anything in your path is what I always seek in those type of games.
