there probably wont ever be another 3rd person shooter as interesting as this. it wears its influences on its sleeve, not just in gameplay but in atmosphere and art direction (i.e. twin peaks, lost room, annihilation) and i was sold from the first trailer

one of the best action games ever made to date, but it's mechanically heavy and might not click for everyone.

still, take some notes fromsoft

great game, but at the time it was an unappetizing sight of the future of RE

played it with a friend. enemy designs are bad and the game is pretty forgettable outside of a few meme moments

two of my favorite things combined so im incredibly biased

better than 3, still an open world shooter though so you know what to expect as far as a core gameplay loop goes

if you play them chronologically, the story feels weak after what 0 sets up but the final fight more than makes up for it

also gameplay in this engine has never felt better, despite needing certain styles to beat some bosses at core moments, style swapping is fast and seamless

some of the twists are a bit asinine but ultimately that's what makes yakuza what it is and i loved every moment of this game

dragon engine gameplay is great but holy shit i did not care about the jingweon mafia stuff, would have been more interesting if they focused more on kiryu vs ryuji which is kind of what the game baits you into thinking is going to be more important than it actually is

combat has some problems and the story ultimately doesn't feel like it matters as much in the grand scheme of the series but anyone who skips it is a FOOL

this game is not as confusing to follow as i was lead to believe. not every character is as fun to play as kiryu, akiyama, or haruka, but their arcs make up for it

bring back the taxi minigame btw

gameplay wise is nothing but improvements to its predecessor, but the story lacks the scale of the first game. still, its another great experience by RGG
