oh man that's one of these low and hate videogames

first of all, before we start with everything, some of my background:
1 - never played a Kojima game before
2 - my expectations were pretty low, I was thinking it's gonna be 90% of cutscenes and 10% of sloppy gameplay
3 - Im quite dumb so I don't catch a lot of metaphors/symbolism and whatever
4 - I cannot stand non-gameplay games and long cutscenes

Loves:
1. Travesal gameplay - god damn, it reminds me of ps2 era of games where there was a lot of experimentation in terms of gameplay. It just feels so new and unique. Where there is no enemy, but yet ya gotta overcome different terrains with different tools that you have. But you also gotta find the right balance between how many tools you wanna bring, cuz the more stuff that you carry, the harder and slower it will be to move around. Every path that you take becomes somewhat a continuous little challenge: how do I climb this rock? maybe I can risk it and try to jump over the river? I don't have a lot of ladders left so I'm gonna brute-force this area, etc...

The walking just feels like a game inside of a game, it's a perfect balance between relaxing moments where you can observe the world around you but also it has challenges. I'm deadass in love with this

2. Multiplayer - This is just genius. I know that this async. the multiplier has been around for ages but here it's the best implementation of it imo. You can see and interact with other's people structures that help you to get to your point(bridges, charger points, roads, etc..). But it has some whatever logic behind it, so you see only a certain amount of structures and your map won't be all in dick shapes of whatever structures. It blends nice with the environment and it's always fun to find some ladder in some god-knows-where area

3. Likes - and why would you build structures? Well first of all for yourself, but also cuz other players can use them. And if they do, you get a like. Additionally, they(and you as well) can give more likes to a structure.

At first, I didn't fuckign care about them, but then... Once I started receiving more likes from a random ladder that I placed, oh boi. I built so many zip lines in the mountain area. It's not a currency, it's just likes, and it fucking works.

4. Graphics & environments - the game is just beautiful. Landscapes - damn, artstyle - damn, music moments - damn, performance - damn. One of the pretties game in the realistic art style that I've ever played

5. Actors are amazing

6. Boss fights LOOK very cool

The hates:
1. Sam - Fucking Sam. Probably one of the most unlikable main characters that I played. He is just so shallow, inconsistent, and boring. He doesn't give a shit about anything, yet he is doing all the work and just going along no matter what anybody asks him to do.

He doesn't say shit, but sometimes he says some random ass shit that leaves you with "wtf was that". And then everybody is "Oh Sam, you have connected us all look at everybody who ya meet along the way". Bitch, Sam either says that he doesn't give a shit or just grumps, and yet everybody is acting like he is a fucking Twilight Sparkle.

Says fuck you, then does everything he can to do the thing that he was asked to, then says fuck you again, then goes "no we gotta save her/him" and then says fuck uall again, bruh I dunno, maybe it's just me but holy shit I didn't get his character at all. Tf were his motives, I can't really predict anything that he will do

2. Other characters - much better than Sam, but they also suffer because of him. They are pretty okay by their own, but my god, when they are speaking to Sam it's just monologue after monologue of some expositions about their past. Just a social fucking butterfly right away

Some of them are trash tho(mama, lochne, die hardman), some of them are alright, but I didn't particularly like any of them.

Also, they all have weird nicknames(you have probably heard about Fragile) and everyone, EVERYONE explains their name (mama, diehardman, deadman, heartman, etc...). It's cringy but a good way somehow

3. Shooting - my god it's fucking terrible. I got sad so they added combat to this game. It just sucks as a shooting game and it sucks especially cuz to make the game harder, they just add enemies, more health to them and etc... instead of continuing to add terrain with more mechanics.

And the worst part is that it's forced. You cannot skip it. Sometimes, in the open world, you can just avoid enemies by taking a longer route. OK. But there are boss fights and special missions where you are forced to do it. And they suck so much, holy fuck. I gave up on the last mission and lowered the difficulty, cuz holy fuck it sucks a million dicks. Fuck this shit

4. Too many cutscenes in the end. I'm sorry, but the ending chapters are just 5 hours of cutscenes or what not

5. Too much fucking exposition. You take a step - SAM! EXPOSITION
You can craft a new object - SAM! EXPOSITION
You deliver a package - SAM! EXPOSITION
This game has so much radio/hologram exposition, sometimes it's insane. Everything is explained yet the world doesn't really feel real(I didn't read any of the emails or interviewrs, but fuck them, it shouldn't be explained there). Why is the people delivering the packages? Why with such a technology everywhere they even need to deliver packages? Why everyone is so separated? How do they live?
Dunno, but here is some exposition about the connection to "Beaches"

Overall, I'm really glad that I played this game. I didn't expect to play it, but it's good that I finally played a Kojima game. While the gameplay(expect shooting) is amazing and unique, the characters are pretty OK and cringy... But I actually liked the cringy part of them
The story by itself is pretty interesting, pacing is a lil off, but it's okay
Cool game, unique af, waiting for the second one

I'm still mad about everything related to this game

It killed the original battlerite which was on its pick

The game by itself is fine, but the history doesn't forget, and neither do i

it's like Og KR but on drugs:
1) some towers are insane
Building 3-4 necrs and you deadass have got an army.
Archers just melting enemies
Assassins could insta kill crabs
2) heroes now are more interesting. Instead of leveling them up in every level, they now have a global lvl and more abilities.
3) More interesting and fucking annoying enemies. fuck you crabs and nagas

Overall great game, a great successor of KR. now it's time for origins

nah dog the game is good

The bads:
1) story and characters - wherever and whatever. Nothing is memorable, no one is memorable, Lara is just barely a character

The goods:
1) Gameplay. Deadass. If you want some really fun 3rd person shooter, go for the whole trilgody. The shooting in this game is super fun, It's among the best!
It also has epxloration-metrodvania style of gameplay, so there are a lot of new weapons, upgrades, new abilities, and so on.

I often see this game being compared to Uncharcted, while yeah, both games are cinematic adventure games, this is just a 3rd person shooter metrodvania. it's just too different and kinda unique, can't think of any other game like it

Great game, with great gameplay, and extremely
fun to shoot people, but the story is meh.
BTW, I will lose it if I hear "lara kills a dear in a cutscene with tears and 10 mins later she is committing genocide". If you say that you deadass have never played it. Her killing people is acknowledged by the game and the story A LOT

Absolutely amazing
Best TD ever made

It has everything:
1) cute art style
2) DEEP gameplay
3) Cool towers
4) Great addition with heroes
5) Unique arenas

It's surprisingly hard if you wanna do it with 3 stars on high difficulty. Not only you have to know every tower with their pros & cons, but also you gotta micro-manage the hero, the abilities, the barracks, and the spells. Which, changes a lot your strategy and how you think about it

Anyway, great shit, I wanna play other games in the series to see the improvements, but for now, 2nd best TD game I've ever played(1 one is still green circle td)

2017

meh, not really for me

The story started well but then lost me after a couple of hours

I'm sure the lore is good but a setting like this one has never clicked for me so I kinda didn't care. Also IDC how good the lore is, the notes and emails are lazy and boring. 90% fillers and 10% actual interesting information. There is good world-building and environmental storytelling here and there, but my god, so many emails.

The gameplay is the best part tho. I'm not an immersive sim guy, but even I can appreciate it. There is one major thing however that I hate about immersive sim - it's a stealth game cuz u lack ammunition. I just feel like I'm forced to use a melee cuz god damn, even when I level up my crafting abilities to craft more bullets, I still can get enough of them to comfortably play. Constant going back and forth, just to craft more bullets from the previous crafting table. IK it gets better after, but damn, I just don't like stealth.

Anyway, I respect and appreciate this game. I spoiled the story and endings for myself after abandoning it, but immersive sims are just not for me.

2018

Wanna love this game but god I don't like this genre

The game looks gorgeous: the art design, the backgrounds, the portraits, the animation, the enemies, and the weapons. It's not only unique but it's so bound to the gameplay that it feels amazing. You expect action to be done, it's done, you see the enemy doing an animation, and you know exactly what's gonna happen. The game deadass should be an example of readability and a good-looking, well-playing game altogether.

It also sounds good, the sound design adds, even more, feel to gameplay and the sounds are unique and easily digestible. The music tho... I know a lot of people liked it, and for me, it's aight, I added some of the songs to my playlist, but honestly, it's not my jazz

I heard there is like 2 equal camps: 1 that enjoys the voice acting and the second one that thinks it's shit. It's awesome, i love it.

Okay so now about the bads:
1) I don't like roguelike, roguelites, or whatever the hell that is. Yeah, I understand the point, but god damn it's repetitive as hell. You kinda just play the same level over and over again, making the same build whenever you can, and if you cannot, you suffer. It's kinda like gambling, yeah you can make an overpowered build but it's just random. Yeah, technically you can beat the game with any build, but cheesus, I suffered for quite a lot of builds. So it kinda becomes a game, where you just hope that this run you will get something good, or you start the run and know that this one will be for the grind.
In the end, it feels like:
I get a good build -> it's a fun game
I don't get a good build -> it's a fucking enemy bullet-sponge fest

2) Story - it's a very interesting good way to tell the story when your death progresses the story further, but my god, I didn't care about any of that. And even with such good voice acting damn. I can't even find a reason, the dialogues are pretty good, the characters are also good, the voice acting is good, idk why i didn't like it

Overall if you like this genre you have probably already played it and loved it. If you want and wanna experiment, go for it, it's probably the best one. If you don't want to experiment, you can skip it

it's kinda cool but kinda sloppy

You can control your unit with voice commands. Which sounds like a gimmick from 2010-ish. And it is. But it works

Controlling the units with only your mic works supremely well here, not only it's working pretty well, but also it's really immersive. So yeah, this gimmick works... But until you realize that you can't do everything with your voice commands, you still need your mouse to do some actions... And at this point, you start to see the problems. As a normal RTS game - it sucks, camera, control, everything kinda sux.

This game feels like a bad RTS with voice commands put on top of it. It doesn't quite feel like it was made with an idea of voice commands from the gecko. Or at least it didn't evolve to meet this criteria. Maybe it was made with this idea from the begging, but the RTS aspect was not adapted well. Overall, at least, this game proves that shit like this works, and I wanna see a new, well adapted RTS with voice commands, cuz when it works, oh boi it immerses you

still rocks
my ultimate comfort game

It's a fun little indie game
You fly around the city and do 3 activities:
1) go through circles
2) destroy zeppelins
3) just flying around

TBH I didn't feel like doing the objectives, I just liked flying around the city. Once you get comfortable with the controls, you can pull out some cool tricks. The controls are WarThudner-like, if I understand it correctly(haven't played War thunder in a while). I wished that there was AC like control layout tho.

Every time u respawn there is a new track, and while they are random af, some of them are really fucking solid

Anyway, it's a fun little game. Kinda like a tech-demo or a university project, but fun for a while to fly around the city

yo this game is fun

I liked the first one quite a lot and I was really really excited for this one to come out. When I first saw the trailer in 2013 or 2014 oh man I was hyped af. But then... I kinda stopped playing games when this one came out, but I watched the reviews and they were saying that this game sux, open world sux, gameplay sux, and so on. It kinda discouraged me from playing it

But this month I decided why not to try it. And oh boi, it's fun.
Before we start, once you start the game, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE FOV TO 90. When I started playing it felt so slow, and I didn't even know that you can change it(cuz consoles). But when I found this option, oh boi, it changes the game so much. Deadass should be 90 per default

So in terms of gameplay - it's fucking fun. It's fast, the red ghost system shows you where to go, so you can run from point a to point b in a continuous fun flow if you manage to do everything right. if you don't you will lose the momentum, so ya gotta know what you r doing. It's not difficult, and once you understand the system, you can tweak ur path here and there to be even faster than the ghost's suggestion.

It reminded me a lot of spider man. While both open worlds and ya gotta run through the entire city just to start the mission, I never ever wanted to use fast travel, cuz it's just so goddamn fun to do it on ur own. Ya will get more upgrades and such, that will allow you to travel even faster and do more tricks, but even with no upgrades it's fun

The combat is also cool. As in the previous game, it's better to avoid combat(i think there are only 2 missions where it's unavoidable), and the game handles it pretty well. The more momentum you have, the more health you have. You stop running -> you have little health and also fewer opportunities to escape. So you are encouraged to avoid them and do it fast, cuz you won't be damaged. While if you stop and trynna fight them, well. you can avoid getting hits, but why would you do that? But even the combat by itself is pretty fun. You have kicks and punches, BUT, the most damaging moves are the environmental ones( wall kick, kick from the above, etc..). So even during the combat, you are encouraged to run around and use badass moves(wall kick is deadass op). Shit feels really good.

There is a progression tree, and it's fine. Not much to it, IK a lot of ppl complained about it, but idk, it doesn't do much and is not that important(which is why I understand the complaints)

The OST is fucking amazing. Once you enter the purple district oh man...... The ost is just banger

Now the bads:
1) story. As in the previous one, the story sucks. It's just boring and the characters, uhhh. While the acting and delivery was good, they are just boring. Icarus is the only one that I liked, but even he didn't get any progression. Faith is just bleh, Plastic is kinda fun, but also annoying, Noah, Rebeca and the rest are just nah
2) Artstyle - it's cyberpunk now, which is kinda a letdown. While it's still beautiful and the landscapes are amazing, it just doesn't hit the same as the minimalism of the first game. There are a lot of lights, and lenses, everything is just so "clean" and white. Too many colors for ME game, but yet, to little for cyberpunk. It's good, but the art style of the first game is just soooo much better
3) Worldbuilding - again, the world is just too clean. You don't see ppl(just random npc quest givers), the apartments are just big empty white rooms with beds. I didn't feel like this place could be real, and the characters also don't give a shit about it, they are only talking about the story, not the world. It was also like that in the first one, but that's just something I wish for.

So overall very fun game. Gameplay wise is better than the first one, but lacks in artsyle
Ost is banger tho
I'm ready for ME3

Surprisingly fun

Kinda like simple tower defense. Build defenses, place auto-turrets, and manage the golds and ammo. Enemies be stronger every night, but during the day u r safe to prepare.

It has a coop mode and sandbox which are super fun. It's easy to join somebody playing and just start playing

Kinda reminds me of a map "zombie arena" from warcraft 3
Fun shit

great action game

The controls are pretty tight and it's both satisfying and difficult to control the plane. Especially during the end, where you get some new modules and the amount of shit happening on the screen require u to do everything with ur muscle memory

The graphics are insanely good. Such a crunchy feel to it. Not only technically speaking but also the art style is bonkers. The background, planes, enemies, these black-and-white scenes........ oh man I'm all for that

OST is surprisingly good and also available on spotify

overall great game that looks and plays amazingly. I'm kinda not a fan of this genre, but even I liked it quite a lot

I remember I was kinda hyped for this game when it was announced cuz of the story mode, but then forgot about it

Then, after some time I saw a post in acecombat subreddit saying that it was like "ace combat" but racing. Say less my guy, that's my horny dream. I love ace combat and i love racing

So I usually play "arcade sim", like f1, forza motosport and so on. I play it with the wheel and in first-person mode, so just to establish my preferred way of playing racing games.

So, the main thing that I was interested in is the main story. It's structured in a similar way to "Drive to survive", a documentary about F1. Pretty much it's real ppl on cameras, taking place in a singular season of some moto racing championship. I'M DOWN.

The characters are pretty cliche but that is what it makes it good. Bad guys are so bad, they just show with every second they are in. Good guys are underdogs who always are in the fucked situation. That's the part that I adore: simple cliche characters, good over-the-top drama, simple and effective.
This story also makes some races more impactful, sometimes you actually feel that "oh this son of the bitch said that and this about me, I'm gonna race him rly hard this race" and so on, there is even one somewhat emotional moment near the end. Also during the races, they add some cool music depending on the mood of the story. That's the best thing that the game can offer.

Sadly, that's about that. That's the only feature of this game that makes it stand out. But the worst part is that it's just not enough. There are 36 or 31 races in total, and about 10 of them have cutscenes. And like only 2 move the story forward, the rest of them is just establishing the characters and showing how bad the main guys are. I'M fine with it, but there is just no story development. Deadass the story progresses only in the last 3-4 missions. There is a beginning where you only get introduced into stuff, the middle part has no story, and then the end.

It just feels like there is no story whatsoever. Such a letdown, I was expecting all kinds of drama, sports drama, character drama, and business/politics drama... but I kinda got nothing... The actors and acting are good, I really liked all of them, but there are just not enough interactions. I wish every race was treated as the last one. And cuz of how little we gotta see them, you can't connect with them and they just gonna be forgotten :(

So, the story, while I was super hyped for it and super excited, was a let down cuz it was wayyy to little of it.

Now gameplay
It's fine, but it just doesn't feel as good as other games. I dunno how to describe it. It's an arcade, but if you disable every assist setting and crank up the difficulty, you will get more enjoyable racing, but it still feels kinda clumsy. Especially fucking pick-ups or wherever these cars were. I dunno, at the end, I really wished that I was playing forza motorsport tho

Anyway, I was super hyped for it. It was kinda my dream racing game in my mind. Dramatic sports story with good gameplay... But it has such a small "story" and the gameplay is alright... Also the performance wasn't that good on xbox one s

Anyway, I know that dlcs enhance the story. I might check them out later, but for now, this game is a disappointment for me
