one of the best 2d platformers ever

this is like kirby planet robobot but worse

this is the most sonic game of all time

This review contains spoilers

the first half is amazingly well paced and gives out upgrades and variety in level design really well.
the second half is pretty good, but also quite flawed because of how annoying it is to collect the phoebkins and how tedious the level design gets in a while.
its all worth it for the music box though

outside of green hill and starlight this is soooo bland you guys

boring but well designed i guess

in hindsight this is actually a really good beginning to a really promising game and susie's character arc is the best thing toby fox has ever written

how a metroid can be this linear and guided but still be this solid is actually amazing.
it controls really well, looks really good and is the most atmospheric and story heavy metroid by far
its also brutally hard at some parts and this really works to its favour

the greatest 2d platformer ever made
its so goddamn pretty and the characters are so goofy and lovable and you understand them without having to hear a single line of dialogue
the levels have such an amazing flow to them, with 2000 lums under the sea being the prime example with just how fun it is to control rayman underwater
its so goddamn smooth and the artstyle compliments this perfectly
ive very little bad things to say, just give this wonderful game a shot.

pure dopamine
this game is really good at making YOU feel good
link is so fun to control and the items are easier to use than ever, exploration of dungeons and the overworld alike is rewarded exponentially well, especially the maimais and the "nice" item uprgrades. everything is just so satisfying.
the wall merge is also intergrated perfectly, to the point were when i tried out links awakening i found myself trying to merge into a wall, because its become that second nature to me. just a perfect mechanic really.
the only thing its lacking is a strong identity and/or story. its doesnt have majora's atmosphere and characters, or wind wakers charm, or link's awakening's cruel plot twist and dreamy feel, y'know? doesn't really have a strong zelda "wow" factor to really push it into 10/10 territory
but at the end of the day it does a really good job achieveing its overall job; its a damn good videogame

its a terrible overall videogame but is somehow also has some of sonic's best ever designed levels
crazy how that works

tldr: excellent dungeon design, sidequests and characters are perfectly complimented with a really well done 3 day cycle. its only major flaw is its kind of lame combat, especially compared to other zeldas

i love so much about this omg
the time loop is one of the most unique things in any videogame ever and the game is so well built around it
characters get to be super flashed out, with their own lives and schdeules and feelings
they react to the upcoming lunar apocalypse, they cry if you fail sidequests, and theres so many different intractions to have with them that you'll probably find some new conversation or fact about them if you just poke around in the right place at the right time, and thats just the characters. the gameplay is really well designed around the timer. ther'es songs to modify its flow, easy to use fast travel, and dungeons that are well designed enough that you can beat them pretty comfortably within an extended time period. the time loop also increases replayablity, thanks to the amount of interesting sidequests. this makes it so in one run you can do the all the dungeons, their fairies, and grab every mask over several loops, and in another, you can finish the whole game in like three extended loops (or even just ONE if you know what you're doing).

and i havent even gotten to the dungeons yet. they are the heart of the game from a gameplay standpint. each and every one is a banger (though ill admit woodfall just barely qualifies) and their theming is soooo strong. the transformation masks are really fun to use and are utilized in really creative ways in their dungeons, with the best example being goron link, eho has no right being this fun and looking that goofy

the lack of a proper finale dungeon is disapointing though, and some sidequests are weaker than others. and the combat is kind of medicore most of the time, with the excpetion of like two bosses and a handful of minibosses + the final boss (if you dont use THAT game breaking mask). the combat is the game's weakest aspect really, and the real major thing holding it back. and the fact that some sidequests involve a lot of waiting around for things to happen is also just really annoying. but otherwise the game is just so unique and special because of its transformation masks, sidequests, and dungeon design, and just how well the time loop ties it all together into one weird, wonderful package. the best zelda game ever made.

the greatest game ever made
so well designed, so goddamn charming, so simple yet complex
just a masterpiece

the base game of cuphead is a really fun and visually spectacular gauntlet of mostly well designed bosses that really stick in your mind
but the dlc adds so MUCH to this game, especially in terms of bosses. the ones here are ten times ase charming, colourful and creative as the ones in the main story, the side content added is super engaging, and ms chalice adds a really interesting new playstyle that really bolsters this game's replayabilty
it really feels like the devs turned up everything strong about cuphead up to eleven in this dlc, and in addition to the main game cuphead is now a near perfect complete package.
