About what I'd expect from first entry in a JRPG series. Bog standard story, nothing too exciting going on. Did use a patch to improve the translation and deal with the notoriously high encounter rate in the game. It does have some features that are way ahead of what you'd expect in the genre for the time such as swapping party members in battle and not losing progress on death. Those were pleasant surprises. Also a lot of the OST is from the Mega Man 3 guy which is a plus.

POLICE SUMMONER ANIME HACK N SLASH AHHHHH

I don't know what I hated more. The hit detection, weapon charging and spell casting ruining the pace of combat, the music cutting out constantly or the frustrating to navigate world map. The game is pretty to look at and the music is great when you can hear it. I also can appreciate the addition of co-op. I can't deny it's an ambitious game but it just isn't fun to play.

You can't see the screen. Did you forget to turn on the backlight? Oh wait, you're crying.

The past three games fail to deliver on characters, conflicts, and moments especially when looking at the bar set by the previous two arcs. Many of this game's failings can be attributed to the poor foundation set by CS1-3. While there are still some great highs, the thought that the climax of this 400+ hour arc is far from meeting its potential was always in the back of my mind. And knowing nothing this game does can truly solve the bigger issues with the arc makes it even more disheartening.

Best pacing in the series with so many insane moments. A little slow in chapter 1 but pretty much never steps off the gas after. Was constantly dying to know what would happen next.

If Dorothy has million fans, then I'm one of them.
If Dorothy has one fan, then I'm THAT ONE.
If Dorothy has no fans, that means I'm dead.

Basically everything I could have asked for. Samus feels so good to control and her character is expressed in every bit of animation. Boss fights are extremely satisfying to master. There is freedom in the exploration. And to top it all off it manages to treat long time fans with a rewarding narrative. All while consciously choosing where to place its longer story scenes so as to treat returning players and never leave new players out of the action for very long.

Excellent introduction to a fascinating world. Very by the books narrative but has an easy to love cast and tons of intrigue. It will slowly snowball you into an addict.

I'm not a monster, it's only a mask.

Justin, Feena and Sue bring joy to my soul. Disc 1 is peak, disc 2 falls off hard.

Scouring every nook and cranny of Delfino Island for hours on end as a child with so little progress to show for it brought me as much joy as blasting through the game as an adult. Music? Phenomenal. Plot? Absurd. Art design? Immaculate. Movement? Tight as can be. Mission variety? Shut up.

Was not worth even the singular day I took to beat it out of sheer curiosity

108 characters and Gremio still won't leave my party
