So…Mario is a really big gaming icon and basically the mascot of Nintendo, and who do sega have? Alex Kidd…I mean sonic the hedgehog! Everyone remembers sonic the hedgehog right? The blue blur that started it all on the sega mega drive (or genesis) on a game that definitely has not aged well…

Sonic 1 is…strange. Strange in the sense that it definitely hasn’t aged as well as the Mario games (or at least most of them). That can easily be put towards the levels…and oh boy do we have something to talk about. We start off at green hill zone, great first level, and then marble zone…still a decent-ish level but a major pace killer. We then go to spring yard zone where the pace seems to catch up a bit…but now…we’re at labyrinth zone, where the pace seems to grind to a halt…and there’s no surprise why. We then make it to star light zone where the pace finally seems to catch up a bit and then we make it to scrap brain zone where the first 2 levels are pretty challenging but still cool…and then act 3 comes along and we go back to labyrinth zone style levels…WHY???

Hasn’t aged well, birthed an icon, star light zone was great…and I never want to see a water level ever again…

I must say. If you’d told me that out of every company to come together to make a crossover, it would be squaresoft, the company behind final fantasy and many other excellent RPGs, and Disney, the billion dollar corporation that have made some of the most critically acclaimed movies ever released, I would tell you that you had finally lost it. I would definitely be having some weird thoughts…like is any of that for real? Or not?

Kingdom hearts is a game series worth experiencing and this game is a pure gem. Granted the original on ps2 has not aged the greatest and could’ve definitely done with some work, but that’s why we have the final mix version, the peak version. This version just makes the experience a lot more tolerable and improves it in many ways.

The story as a whole is great, a boy who lives on an island with a few friends, who then gets separated and is forced to work with Donald and goofy to find mickey and his friends, with the main character, sora, basically shoved into the limelight by being called the ‘chosen one’ (yeah that didn’t last…). He’s then forced to see his friend be manipulated and controlled by ansem seeker of darkness. It’s a plot that is pretty simple but so powerful at the same time

The gameplay is also excellent, and to me, the best in the franchise. And the platforming aspects of it are really well added and…it’s just good alr. Play the game and enjoy it for yourself, ok?

Overall, the original kingdom hearts is a nostalgia trip and one that has aged pretty well.

Great story, awesome music, wonderful cast of characters, and sora and Donald arguing will never not be funny

I’m not gonna lie, I always preferred Ratchet & Clank, I’d pretty much been brought up with the series so it made sense why I preferred it. But I’ve always had a soft spot for Jak and Daxter. Yes, I enjoyed Jak II. Yes, I thought Jak 3 was mid. And yes again, I thought Jak X was an interesting racer. But nothing gives me more nostalgia than the precursor legacy.

It’s a really funny platformer that showcased that naughty dog didn’t need crash anymore and that they could easily make a new ip and get on with it. I find the ideas in the game to be really interesting and legendary (clearly inspiring insomniac with Ratchet). The writing is also really funny and the cast of characters can be quite memorable with how much they add to the game, even if it’s not that much.

Overall, the precursor legacy is a great 3D platformer that took notes from icons like banjo-kazooie and Mario 64 and improved on them to give us an experience many of us haven’t forgotten.

Funny and clever writing, great cast of characters, and cool collectibles

…also those power cell dance animations were perfect

The first game I ever played…the original Ratchet & Clank on the PlayStation 2. I’ve had some great memories from this game, mainly being stuck on planet rilgar or umbris and not being able to get any further but over the years I improved and eventually finished it.

Now compared to the other Ratchet & clank games this one isn’t nearly as great gameplay wise and takes more of a platformer route than a shooter, but I still have a soft spot for it. The writing is stellar and the characters as a whole (even the supporting cast) are written perfectly. The story is also a great tale about 2 people putting everything aside for the greater good and eventually coming together to settle their differences.

Overall, it may not be the best game in the franchise, but it’s the one that started it all and the one with the biggest heart.

Great gameplay, excellent story, writing will never get old, and the plumbers cra- I mean back.

Now this is a 3D platformer!

I played this game quite a few years ago when I had a wii and played the hell out of it, and years later I still love it. This is definitely the game that got me into the mario series as a whole and what better game to begin with. There’s so much emotion here and the levels are really well-made. In my opinion this is a must have for the wii.

Great gameplay, excellent story, 2 Luigi’s

I’d never played a point and click game before so to play day of the tentacle was a really great experience.

A purple tentacle decides he wants to take over the world so our three heroes: Bernard, laverne and hoagie have to go through time to stop purple tentacles plans. And it’s just a really funny game. The supporting cast are just as great too and the ending is really funny.

Funny characters, interesting plot, tentacles

It’s the game that pretty much birthed the 3D platformer, it’s super Mario 64!

Not my personal favourite, to me it hasn’t really aged ridiculously well, not to say it’s bad or anything but I found myself getting frustrated at points. I still find this game to be quite beloved but I personally don’t think it’s aged well.

Great level design, interesting atmosphere, yoshi dies…and cake.

I’ve never got metroidvanias. I tried to play super Metroid but just couldn’t seem to get into it, so going into hollow knight I didn’t have high hopes that I would enjoy it and for the first 5 hours I didn’t massively. Not to say the game was bad, but it just didn’t interest me, that was until I made it to the city of tears…that was when the game clicked for me and I couldn’t seem to stop playing it, I got really invested into the game when I hit the city and I really wanted to keep going and fighting my way through boss after boss.

I love this game. If you’re like me and aren’t into metroidvanias I would give hollow knight a look as if you begin to play it quite a bit you will get hooked and really start to enjoy it.

Great story, interesting lore, neat characters, and gameplay was solid.

I remember playing the original trilogy and wanting more out of the Layton games. So when I found out the spectres call (name in Europe) existed I couldn’t wait to play it, and to find out it was a prequel to the main trilogy was even more interesting. Now I have a soft spot for this game, I had some great memories with it and nostalgia always blinds me with this game (probably why I prefer it to curious village).

The story is great, Emmy is a great new addition, and the puzzles are as great as ever! I love this game.

This game is extremely nostalgic for me, I can still see myself turning on the ps2 and playing the og game. Life was simple…

But we’re not talking about the original problem ridden game, we’re talking about the final mix version which in my opinion, is the peak version of this game, which is in fact, a powerful game.

Now overall final mix fixes a lot of issues with the original, it makes form’a actually worthwhile other then looking cool in battle and the abilities you get from them actually useable thanks to the new area: the cavern of rememberance. It also gives us data battles which are harder versions of some of the organization fights. And it gives us lingering will, a brutal secret boss. This is a really neat package, fixing problems with the original and improving them really nicely.

The game itself has its problems…some strange dialogue, a different sora, and a boring revisit to worlds you’ve already been to which feel like total wastes of time. This game isn’t perfect, when you break it down and compare it to the other games in the franchise, but it’s definitely my personal favourite. Which sounds crazy after I just listed a bunch of problems and seemed to take a disliking to the original version. I love this game. It’s one of my favourite games of all time. Right next to ff9 this stands as one of my all time favourites. But just because it’s my favourite doesn’t mean it’s the best nor does it not have problems. In the end I still find this to be a masterpiece with the ending being one of my favourite endings to a game…a beautiful way of tying the game together and I will always get nostalgic over the opening part with roxas.

I think this game is still great, despite its noticeable problems if you break it down. I still find it to be a masterpiece and I think people will still find enjoyment in this game.

Great combat, decent story, and a wonderful game.

Wow…this a slap in the face to those that played the original game and expected it to be slightly like the original. This is mid as mid can get. The interactions are just…why (gadgetron ceo…why), the weapons aren’t new in the slightest and are copy and pastes of the ones from tools, and don’t get me started on the movie tie-in…which reminds me, they basically borrowed some clips from that and shoved them into the game. This is just a slap in the face and feels…eh. I get it’s meant to be a ‘reboot’ but even if you get rid of the nostalgia it still doesn’t feel great…I’m sure people will find enjoyment in this game but it’s just not for me.

It’s ok…compared to the other Layton games this one is kinda weak in comparison but I do have some good memories with it. Overall, a great puzzle adventure

I’ve had some great memories with this game because it’s a really great comedic adventure that is really enjoyable. I hope others who play this game enjoy it just as much as I do
R.I.P. alpha dream

So I got this game in 2021 after I decided I needed to start playing indie games…and I decided to start on undertale and oh man…what a game…what a powerful little indie game made by a guy named Toby fox…and no…this game isn’t just “ooo look funny skeleton man” this game is more then that, this game is…undertale, a game where you are judged for what you do and get the ending you have created…just wow…

Masterpiece worth putting your time into
