Someone took a look at all the fun parkour and combat stuff in the first game and said "yes, what a sequel needs is a major focus on a branching narrative straight out of 2007 and all the fun stuff to be locked behind skill trees with not one, but two different currencies required to unlock them".

It does finally get back to the standard set by the original game but only in the final third of the game and honestly, I don't blame you if you sack this off many hours before you get anywhere near that. The juice just ain't worth the squeeze.

strong 4 to a light 5
too much talking, the hitboxes are trash, there are skills that you have to unlock that in my opinion should be available from the start (sliding, wallrunning, etc.), the writing is stupid, and i could go on forever
so even though theres quite a lot of negative stuff in this game that kept me from enjoying it for the most part, i still had some fun here and there
especially the first few hours felt really satisfying to play, as the game went pretty much straight forward

+ i liked this one a lot more than the first game

The same "grind" game as the first part, but now the design of the city looks very nice, the game has gotten at least a bit of its own "charm", and the plot has become a little better.

Dying Light is probably my favorite game purely from a gameplay perspective. It's bumming then to find so much of this game changing aspects that didn't need changed. A stamina bar, dedicated health bars on enemies, and now limited time in darkness add nothing to the game and only make it more frustrating, especially with the improvements to parkour mechanics.

The biggest shame is story. 1's story is by no means good, but I found it charming. This comes off as not only bad, but a story that rips off popular media into a weird blob of elements. Which stings considering story was something they wanted to improve.

sluggish, overly complicated controls and un-fun combat can't completely keep this game down, particularly with the way that Techland has managed to level up the parkour

After really enjoying the first game back when it came out I had high hopes for this sequel but it didn't quite reach my expectations. The core gameplay is really fun at times and full of promise but the level design especially in the second open world area didn't feel great to me and the story just spins further and further out of control the deeper you get into the game. It also just feels full to the brim with needless open world guff designed to slow your progress through the upgrade trees.

Meh, feels weird to experience this after the first game, it feels like it's a step down, especially with the sensation of movement and the liberty of the gameplay, always frustrating, the story is so boring, characters are bland, and no grapple, wth techland
It's graphically impressive, yes, but what's the point when the gameplay and feeling doesn't follow up ? it's a total mess, and when i see so many mods that changes gravity etc because so many people are convinced that we are on the moon and not on earth is not that suprising, i'm so pissed off to have spent full price for this
not a bad game, but the first game is WAY better

this game is very obviously unfinished but still a lot of fun and probably even better in co-op. all games should let you kick people off of high buildings

While there are some things the first game does better, dying light 2 is overall a superior game to the first. The game manages to improve upon its predecessor without straying to far away and leaving a niche the first game still occupies. One of my biggest complaints to note with the game is that the night does not have the same terrifying feel as found in the first game, I often spent most of my time at night as it felt like there was all reward no risk.

I am an huge fan of the first Dying Light, it's tight and satisfying progression system with an well-made and fun melee combat + rich side-content really made me love that game back in the day. when this sequel was announced in 2018 I was very excited to see what Techland could take that approach and improved it immensely though it did improves a lot over the first game, it also feels an downgrade in others.

the parkour-system and combat are still great and fighting with Humans is no longer an slog for example.

progression-system is just as tighter like the first game, Techland once again nailed that feeling of being an lazy character during your first hours of playtime to effectively flying over the open-world and killing enemies with style later in the game.

the open-world itself it's your usual Ubisoft game mostly, mixed activities all around the map that gets old quickly.

Night-time don't feel as risky like in the first game since they had the brilliant idea to remove the Volatiles roaming the streets and is genuinely not that terrifying anymore.

combat against Infected is nowhere near as satisfying like in Dying Light 1 and they are no longer the focus in this game.

the story definitely had it's moments and I considered it to be better than DL1 but yeah the writing is still atrocious mostly.

overall Dying Light 2 is fun and it did improved it on the design of the series but the other areas felt like an step back and it made me appreciate the first one far more in retrospect.

Couldn't beat the last mission cause the game bugged and I could never fast travel back to the downtown area of the game, and my last save file from that area was too many hours to be arsed to go back. Overall, the game is over-promised and under-delivered and I think just strayed too far away from what made the first game so great. Hopefully, the DLC will be good.

Horrible story, somehow fun gameplay.

Was pretty decent not as good as the first

great game but not 5 stars bcs of the buggs i wanted to do platinum but the game didnt gave me an story achievement

Fun parkour movement that can be a little wonky and frustrating due to the first person perspective. Combat is definitely not very layered as it is just 90% melee weapon swinging, just dont get surrounded and overwhelmed and most fights have been a breeze. The combat improves when new abilities are unlocked such as the curb stomp and the awesome big damage drop kick. Seriously, you can wack away with a blade or a hammer but a jump and kick does triple the damage. Decent open world map with endless activities to do. Activities like supply caravans, stores, etc. are repeatable to farm valuables for money or parts for crafting. Crafting system is ok, materials are all over and easy to find. Upgrading the crafting recipes is a real pain in the ass as they require an unreasonable amount of monster tokens, most of which have to be farmed at night and don't have a definite drop rate. Most standard recipes seem to require upwards of 50+ uncommon tokens to upgrade fully, and there are at least 50 recipes to upgrade. A standard play session usually netted me somewhere around 20-25 uncommon tokens, so progress on upgrading has been very slow. Copy and pasted skyrim/Fallout lockpicking system could use an overhaul as it is stale at this point. Lockpicking does not pause the game though which keeps the intensity up if there are enemies nearby or if you are in the dark or in the toxic material. I really enjoyed the nighttime travesal and ticking clock game that you would have to play to stay alive. With only around 5 minutes of survival time when outside of daylight or UV light the early parts of the game were much more of a sturggle to stay alive and reach the goal. By mid to late game I had piled up enough immunity boosters and UV shrooms to basically ignore the mechanic all together, with no shortage of resources in sight. The story has been engaging and eventful, there are almost too many named characters to keep track of and follow, the "choices" within story missions lead to some tough decisions. I ultimately sided and gave the nuetral territory resources to the "survivors" because I wanted to make travesal as easy as possible because I like clearing the map in these open world games. The final boss was a shitfest that had 4 extremely similar and annoying phases, which included unblockable attacks with no rythm and some instant death areas if you fell off. SPOILERS The game really fell off in the late game for me, I'll admit I maybe made some wrong key story choices like letting Hakon die and choosing to save Lawan at the end, I definitely got the "bad" ending which always seems to happen to me during these games, I'll still never get over my witcher 3 ending. In the end everybody but me and lawan died and the entire city exploded due to a rocket strike i chose to let happen. Sheesh.

A massive improvement in every area over 1. As someone who didn’t think much of 1, I can definitely say 2 is worth looking into.

The most broken game I've ever played two player. Couldn't watch the final cut scene because the game refused to load it. The story was so drawn out and uninteresting too. The only things I really liked was the parkour and the world. I liked it at first but the more I played it the worse it got.

7 years to make an okay sequel that doesn't add much. The story is awful; I do not care about Mia or the evil superpowered dude that had to kill a horse.

Incredibly fun parkour and some nice combat (when not fighting bullet sponges) combined with a complete letdown of a story after everything they did to hype it up.

game shan't work, grievously.

A STEP IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, LIKE MY LIFE

Joguei no COOP:

Game is similar to DL1 but IMO worse. The infection mechanic coupled with the night is more frustrating than fun. Its okay. It feels pretty by the numbers in every area outside the parkor. Might go back to it in a slower month but to many other titles are calling my attention.

Loved the first one so the sequel had a lot to live up to. It does and it doesn't. The actual core gameplay, running, jumping, parkouring, smashing some zombies brains out is a hell of a lot of fun. The added paraglider, specially once you fully upgrade it is a blast to whip around on. Once you move past that fun core gameplay though and get into the story, repetitive who gives a shit fetch quests and motivations for the main character it sorta falls apart. Aiden is a very stock/generic main character. Looting everything and anything not even knowing what the hell your grabbing 3/4 of the time has just become such a chore in video games. Don't even get me started on the soul sucking lock picking mini game your forced to play over and over again in the 60 hours it took me to beat this hefty boy. Even though its not as good as the brilliant original I still had quite a bit of fun with this and ill be looking forward to the dlc that they have coming down the pike.

Not as good as the first game but still fun. Worth it on sale
