Removing the option to club seals is woke SJW pandering

NES Week: Day #2

Out of all the games to get characters in smash bros. The one I’ve always been confused about are the ice climbers. They’ve never really been that powerful in smash and I’ve never heard anyone really praising the game. Maybe it was time that I tried the game to see why they were in smash in the first place. Who knows…maybe it would be a kid Icarus situation?

Personally I really don’t find ice climbers to be that good of a game. If anything, I’m confused as to why Nintendo respects it so much. For starters the jumping is terrible. You don’t really notice how terrible the jump physics are until the platforms come in. I promise you that no matter what I do I can’t land on the platforms because ‘oh your only on the very edge so I guess that means your not on it’ and the controls feel so stiff with you trying to manoeuvre the climber to jump on these platforms and somehow catch the pterodactyl at the end. It all feels so stiff and when the platforms are really slippy that’s just when I lose faith in everything…

Stiff controls, terrible platforms, not the worst enemies, they should get a new job that doesn’t require them to jump

Thanks to Smash Bros., I was curious in trying out the game where the Ice Climbers came from.

While I like the soundtrack, and the game has charm... man, do these controls suck ass. Jumping feels really heavy, and landing on platforms is a bitch.

After a while, I was not having much fun, and just stopped playing the game.

If there was another Ice Climber game with better controls in the future, I'd be all for it, but as for this one... nah.

This game is super frustrating to play. Jump physics/controls is ass, the music is really soft, and your hammer has very poor range. How the heck did this series get represented in Super Smash Bros again?

For the past several years, I had wondered why Nintendo hadn’t made a two-player co-op Ice Climber game for Switch, because you would think it would be a natural fit. Now I know why. Nothing worth seeing here except for some pretty good music. Go play Mario Bros. or Donkey Kong instead.

The concept of this game is really enjoyable. However, the controls is in the way of this game. The jump momentum is really inconsistent that it can be infuriating. The treadmill are hard to identify between the one that goes to the left and the one to the right (the orientation is only shown by the stripes). The two players mode helps, but can be annoying if one players goes too high

Game # 15 of my challenge

Imagine the most monotonous, tedious platformer ever created with mechanics specifically designed to be the most annoying things imaginable and controls so inconsistent that it makes you wonder if the developers even intended for anyone to ever finish it, let alone have fun.

Whatever you imagined just now is still probably far better than Ice Climber.

Music is good though.

a game where the bad controls and repetitive levels are the point. yeah, i don’t get why nintendo is so proud of this one

Imagine paying like $40 for this back in the day

The graphics are colorful and appealing, but everything else wears out its welcome fast. The controls are sluggish, and the jump feels awful from the moment you press A. Once you've played one level, it's likely you've had your fill like I did.

Ok, the jump momentum is horrid. Never felt bothered by the slippery since after all it is indeed an ice climbing.

It's one of those very early NES games, so don't expect anything lasting long.

This game has one music track that plays during all levels and it sounds like complete ass

Fucking Peak, as you climb the peak, ontop the peak, where you witness peak, with peak climbers!!

Ice climber is a pretty fun game were you climb up a mountain whilst dodging enemies. It's a really simple concept that is executed pretty well.

My one complaint is that sometimes the platforming can be a bit janky, you sometimes clip through them and don't jump properly. Other than that though it is a pretty fun game that has aged pretty well for being nearly 40 years old.

Nintendo could make a game about Popo and Nana losing their legs in a car accident, and it would still have better jumping control than this

this games only mechanic is jumping onto platforms above you and yet somehow the ledges collision is broken. i hate da ice climbers

O programador da física desse jogo é um corno.

If someone told me the famicom was going to revive the industry and showed me this I would say just let it die

Can be a fun time in short bursts if you’re in the mood for a very simple arcade style platformer. Holy hell though the jumping and the way you ricochet off walls is infuriating. Really makes you appreciate how well Super Mario Bros. or even just Mario Bros. controls. The really awkward movement in this game can make for interesting albeit probably frustrating challenge if you’re in to that sort of thing I guess. Doubt I’ll ever pick this one up again.

I say with no exaggeration that this is some of the worst physics I've ever seen in a video game.

I can tolerate the ice physics, since it's literally in the name. But if I land on a platform, maybe let me land on it! It was already a pain in the ass to get on it to begin with with that shitty jump. But you just had to clip me through the floor didn't you?!

I think I will misinput and jump into the ceiling 50 times as a polar bear approaches

I remember trying this game one the 3DS eShop, and I am pretty sure most people, like me, tried it because of Smash Bros.

And much like any other people, I played it for a while before concluding that: ""YO THIS IS KINDA MEH!"

It is a cute little title, with cute sound design and with charming characters and premise. There are enough decent aspects of it to turn it into beloved Famicom classic.

But GOD, even compared to other arcade titles, this is a really janky one: the unfluidity of the controls and the addition of ICE PHYSIC lead to you making wrong jumps all the time, with levels that turns literally unforgiving after the first 3 levels.... the addition of a timer to all of this Sisyhus climb does help either.

That said, it's not a really awful experience.... and mostly because I grew attached to Nana and Popo thanks to Smash..... I am not honestly able to completely hate it.

It does its job, even if just barely. Sometimes I kinda hope the Ice Climbers will get the "Kid Icarus: Uprising" treatment and return with a banger sequel on modern consoles.

played through Brawl masterpieces, mid

this stinks, one star for the funny polar bear
