just not for me.
i picked this up because of some friends playing it, and i feel quite disappointed in my purchase. it's not a bad game, it just feels too gimmicky, and doesn't really have any mechanics that caught me.

this gameplay is so sluggish and the only insentive to go fast is the medals, and then you get levels where there is so little room for exploration. in the first run of some it feels like you're just following directions, with less than stellar physics

and oh god don't get me started on the "story." i knew it was gonna be bad going in, but it just gets in the way of the gameplay, which was the entire point for me.

i just can't. this game gets on my nerves.
the music is annoying, the combat feels tedious and luck based, and i just skipped through the "story"

years after watching playthroughs of this game, i came back to it, to become really disappointed. after a while getting all the endings became a checklist, in gameplay that was just walk here, listen to dialogue, press a button, mix and repeat.
the story didn't captivate me as much. maybe it's not on the nose enough for me, but i wasn't really able to get anything from it. at points it feels like it's just playing with your heart strings, but it feels weightless because all the endings are so disconnected from each other.
i honestly like Ultra Deluxe much more.

this game seems to be mainly revolving around 3 linear sections, all being metaphors for art. perspective of the artist and the critic, going into artblock, nostalgia, and an artist's wanting to move on.
but where the game flies high in story, it falters in gameplay. walk, press a button, listen to dialogue, repeat. it's in the game's very design, so it's not an easy problem to fix, but it gets tiring.

wolfenstein 2 improves on the minor flaws of it's older brother, but lets the larger flaws stay their ground.
story wise it is just something they put together to let the set pieces do their work. it works enough, and gives what your doing weight, but by the end it still feels like there are loose ends.
the basic gameplay loop can be a lot of fun, or really annoying. but in level design they did not do shit to improve it. it is still so damn easy to get lost, and areas are not memorable enough to know where you're going without checking the map half the time.

what a strange game. both the gameplay and story have their ups and downs (story having more ups)
the areas can be so confusing or having needless details. and at points the gunplay can be so boring or bad. low ammo, boring enemies, or etc.
the story is kind of a mess. the smaller moments can either be amazing and touching, or confusing and dumb.
right after playing this i'll be playing the second. and i hope it's less bogged down and confusing than this one.

pretty good! the games are quick, but so much happens in them so fast, they feel 20 minutes long at just 5 to 10.
i just wish it was easier to know how to do a specific type of strategy or gimmick without it being shit. i often feel forced to stick with ground units due to the bridges' benefits.

This review contains spoilers

i'm a little disapointed.
not only with the bullet sponge sections that i felt pressured to cheat to skip.
but the ending felt tone def to what it was.
that final cutscene at rush's grave shouldn't have been as happy as it was.
rush is dead, the twins are dead, and joseph is dead.
good, bad, and the in between are all gone. that final cutscene should have been a reflection on how terrible all of this has been for the characters.
it should have been asking if all of this was worth it. or show how justice won't bring the lost back.
it could have done a much better job of making this feel bitter sweet.

i've been playing this for a while now and really enjoying it. but it's curve can be really annoying. at times it seems so difficult to tell what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong, at some points feeling like it's impossible to find a gameplay style that works for you.
but once you find what works for you, and grow the patience for those bad games, it can be a really enjoyable experience.

literal shit. go in, get a little bigger than last time, and get eaten, repeat. so fucking boring.

nothing really to say

MUAH MUAH MUAH! PERFECTO!
only problem i have with it is that the multiplayer can be a little chaotic.

while FH5 replaces the spot 4 had in my favorites, having 50 more hours with this series helped me see the flaws with it over all.

while the driving is still amazing, that perfect balance between speed and patience, the AI ruin the races. you're most likely locked into the position you get in the first 2 minutes or so, and either you get first place, or the game doesn't reward you.
