as kid, I once found a baby bird in a bush all alone, i picked it up and was going to take it home to to show my parents and hopefully get someone who could help it, but then some kids slapped it out of my hands and told me it was going to die regardless if I got it help of not, and before I could pick the bird back up, they stomped on it a couple times before tossing it down a sewer drain, I later learned from my brother that they had found the nest before hand and destroyed it, i told my parents and they didn't really do anything.
