Bioshock was one of my favorite games in the 360, but replaying it right now, i think its amazing presentation clouded my judgement on the game.

Its gameplay is not very good, the encounters are very repepetive, the random enemy respawns get too much in the way of exploration.

The setting is excellent and its execution remains superb and basically carried the game for me in this playthrough. I still enjoy the story and like the twist at the end.

The directors commentary is a great addition in this re-release.

Amazing game, one of the great Metroid games. The pacing is superb. I dont know how they made it but it feels like you are always going in the right direction.

The structure is very similar to every 2D Metroid except for the E.M.M.Is that chase you down and instant kill you, raising the stakes and putting you at the edge of your seat, which is great.

I loved the depiction of Samus here. The development team totally gets It. She is in her most badass form.

I would also like to highlight the Bosses here. I think every boss is great and with the right amout of challenge. Overall they are the best among the 2D Metroid.

There is not much to complain. The music is not very memorable. The load times annoyed me a little, but this can be improved in future releases for newer hardware. My biggest complaint would be with the counter mechanic, which felt very inconsistent. Sometimes the reaction time required for some enemies is too short, and you rely only on luck. But in general the warning comes way before and you only need to pay attention to the enemies animations.

Coming out fresh from the experience I would rank It below Super, Prime and maybe Prime 2. Definetly one the greats.

2021

Have never played Quake before and I think the game aged really well. Really enjoyed the experience overall.

As a re-release/remastered I believe the package should offer a little more insigth regarding the development of the game such as a directors commentary, design documents/drafts, concept art, etc. However, at such a low price, and adding two new campaings it is not really fair to complain.

As for the game, the original campaing remains excellent although constrained by some technicalities of the time of release. Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity are both good, but the enemies and wepons added dont improve the experience much, and both campaings drag a little.

The highlight for me are both campaings developed by Machine Games. Dimension of the Past seem to be developed by the same constraints of the original development team and is very creative. Dimension of the Machine is by far the best part of the package. Here there are no breaks and it feels like a generarional leap in game design and scope.

The Switch port is not perfect, but it is good enough. The portability and gyro controls are great advantages of this version.

An interesting mix of pinball mechanics and hack'n'slash. The artstyle is great, the ambient music is not memoble, but fits the game very well. The performance and image quality are excellent on the Switch.

Unfortunatly there is not much variety in the mechanics and challenges in the rooms, but thankfully the developers did not try to bloat the game with repetitiveness, and I felt that it has a perfect length (about 4h long) and does not overstay its welcome.

The image quality is bad, the graphics are not very good and the game is very buggy.

However, there is so much style, and the combat is surprisingly deeper and more enjoyable than what I was expecting from the trailers. The core elements here are the story and combat, and both are excellent.

A game is always more than the sum of its parts, for better or worse. In the case of NMH3 thankfully it is for the better.

Honestly, dont let the bad image quality or the not ideal performance get in the way. There is nothing quite like whatever Suda51 is trying to achieve in his games and the No More Heroes series of games are his most accessible works.

Its picross with a mega drive and master System theme. There is really not much to complain here.

The problem is the music selection. It could be amazing but there are only four tracks from classic Sega games. After the fifth puzzle I turned off the sound and it became a podcast game.

Lots of style, interesting setting, great music. The combat I believe would be the highlight for NEO:TWEWY. It is surprisingly great although it gets a little inconsistent in higher difficulty levels (some encounters being extremely easy while in other you die in two hits). There is a lot of room for experimentation with something around 300 different pins. Sometimes it gets a little chaotic with the amount of effects on display, and is hard to predict the enemies behavior. Although it is not perfect, it has a lot of depth, and is a step in the right direction.

The amount of collectibles (clothes, music, books, foods, pins, social network) brought a collectathon layer to the game that I wasnt expecting to be so engaged in.

My biggest problem here is the pacing of the story. For me it felt that 90% of everything that happens in the game is just filler. On top of that there is a constant interruption during gameplay for exposition which becomes very annoying quickly. Other than that I think the story is pretty interesting overall.

Really wanted to like this... The low poly visual style, inspired by Virtua Racing, help to clearly understand whats coming ahead which is something that I have trouble with more photorealistic racing games. Its biggest problems are the uninspired tracks (with few exceptions) and music. The tracks vary in four different zones (coast, desert, jungle and mountains) that get boring very quickly.

The Virtua Racing port on the Switch is very good, and would absolutely recommend it over this.

I'm not an expert on the genre but this game is great. The novice difficulty level is very begginer friendly and recommended for people trying to get into bullet hell shmups. The scoring system is very basic, just shoot and collect everything, which is not a bad thing. The giant bugs theme is also nice.

My only complaints are the lack of a challenges mode (e.g. Finish stage 1 without using bombs) or achievements. Something to change the pace and create a more complete experience.

The combat is interesting but gets repetitive really quickly. The frequent interruption by your partners was very irritating throughout the whole game. The art direction is impecable and the graphics are beautiful for the most part, combined with the clever placement of the collectibles in the world, it is a joy to explore. Overall it a good game.
