I think a lot of your enjoyment of this game will depend entirely on whether you can get through its really slow beginning.
The game has a drastic pacing issue where the first 5 chapters feel like they go nowhere and the. Suddenly the rest of the game just blasts by.

Combat is probably the weakest of these games I’ve played so far with every boss fight just blocking every attack you throw at them making fights a chore.
I feel like a lot of my issues stem from coming from Kiwami 2 to this game but I don’t think a Kiwami 3 would really fix the awful pacing and less than stellar side content.

Story when it got going though was really engaging so it gets a cautionary recommendation from me…

Wanted to like this game a lot more as I’ve always been a big beat em up fan. I love the aesthetic and soundtrack and the simplistic combat is incredibly fun.
My main problem comes with how grindy the game feels, needing so much money to boost your stats so it feels you’re not slapping enemies with a damp cloth, meanwhile they’re depleting your health bar in two to three hits.

Playing with friends definitely made the experience feel a lot better. So definitely reccommend doing that if you wanna play the game (though the online experience is also rather shaky)

I don't know where the sudden craving for a Lego game came from but I picked up this and the other LEGO Marvel games for fairly cheap on sale.
If this first game is anything to go by I feel i'm going to be in for a fairly fun time.

Obviously it's very simplisting and can get a tad monotonous at times but its meant for a much younger audience so i'm willing to give it some slack. The variety of Marvel Heroes you get to use through the campaign is rather plentiful, Having a huge open world to fly and swing around in is a really nice touch and the Lego staple humour and charm even manged to get a few chuckles out of me.

Excited to play the Second game at some point

Welp... that was certainly a way to spend 20 minutes.
I like a lot of the ideas and what slightly more unique environments they tried to pack into this game and considering the time it released i'm sure this was incredibly impressive back then.

But it's over before you feel like it really gets going and the physics feel all kinds of wonky. Play it for a history lesson but that's really all it's their for

I would chalk up a lot of my problems with this game to a rough start but considering the beta was a year ago and from what i've heard the game has only gotten worse, I truly don't know what happened here.

Unlocking characters is a needless slog that almost requires putting some money into the game so you're not stuck with the one character the game starts you with, On Series S the game runs awfully with a good 80% of my matches either desyncing, straight up disconnecting or having sever framerate issues.
Which I think is a genuine shame because for those 20% of games I actually got to play. I was really enjoying myself, I liked the focus on 2vs2 and a lot of fighters are built around teamwork and it makes for a good laugh with friends.

I truly hope this game can only go up from because as it is... I'm left feeling really deflated

A cozy little Kelogg’s Variety Pak of a game where the what it offers is fun and cozy but too shallow to have much depth to really sink your teeth into and there’s a couple of less good cereals in the mix as well.
For every enjoyable costume like Swordfighter, Kung Fu and Dashing Thief… you get sluggish, mind dullingly easy and even annoying ones like Mermaid, Detective and Patisserie.

Overall an enjoyable little time that fills the cozy vibes platformer hole in my heart that hasn’t had a Yoshi game to play in a while

I'm so glad this game came to consoles cause I was worried I was gonna miss out and what is now one of my favourite 2D Platformers ever.
The improvements compared to the first game are astronomical. I like the hub areas giving the world a more connected feeling. The level aesthetics are some of the most beautiful I've seen in a 2D sprite based game and the main 4 cast are some of the most enjoyable main casts to watch interact with i've watched in recent memory.

Only done Lilac so far but I am absolutely coming back to do the other campaigns real soon! I love this game so much!

What started as a curiosity buy might just end up being one of the big hidden gems of 2024 for me
The game is oozing with a captivating style and energy, the movement and techniques you unlock on your travels make for some incredibly fun traversal and delightfully tricky platforming, the combat is delightfully satisfying when you start learning all the little intricacies and crazy techniques you can pull all wrapped together by some incredible boss fights that are a delightful sight to behold.

Admittedly my one criticism is that all this greatness (at least on Switch) seems to struggle with its performance. Had many instances of frame rate dips, animation glitches, even a couple crashes and soft locks. But if you can look past those occasional hiccups and are looking for something to scratch that metroidvania itch… I cannot reccommend this game enough

Congrats PoP… you’ve found a new fan in me!

Takes the things I liked from both 0 and Kiwami 1, mixes in some amazing quality of life of life improvements and makes this game my personal favourite in the series so far.
I’d say the one draw back is that there isn’t as much to mess around with for compared having only one fighting style compared to Kiwami 1’s 3 but everything about this game was a major step up from that game.

The more varied and down right bonkers side stories are some of the best I’ve experienced so far. A really fun amount of extra minigames that I’m pretty sure I barely scratched the surface on. And a really engaging story filled with twists, turns and memorable moments.
A must play for anyone out there

A few rough and undercooked spots can’t stop me thinking this is one of the most fun and satisfying platformers to just move around in. Everything about this game is just oozing with a unique charm and it’s topped off with some of Tee Lopes finest work as a composer.
If you’re looking for an indie game to play his year. I cannot reccommend this enough

It's not often a games ending makes me genuinely get emotional. And boy howdy did this game do that in spades.
An incredibly emotional story with one of the best main casts I've seen in an RPG. A surprising amount to do between Social Links and the various Requests from Elizabeth.

My only small gripe is that after a while the trips to Tartarus did get a little boring after a while... I never thought I'd miss Mementos but aside from that one little issue. We have a genuine leading contender for my GOTY

Never thought we’d see a Splatoon rouge like but man this might be my favourite of the two sploon DLC’s, the gameplay loop is incredibly addicting. The difficulty ramps up just the right amount to get your heart racing, the level of customisation makes it really satisfying when you’re just a force of nature towards the end.
Admittedly I would have liked a bit more story and such but for what we got, this was a great time

(Also Pearl and Marina are absolute sweethearts and I wish them a lovely marriage)

I don't think anyone could have expected for the CD-I Zelda's of all things to get some kind of Indie retro revivial and I for one was genuinely surprised at how much fun I had with it.

I has this worry going in that the "Haha lol it's a CD-I" game concept would lose its charm and I'd be left with a kinda meh game or that this homage would be done in bad faith and be really cynical. But no has a genuine appreciation for its inspiration and manages to combine that with some really fun mechanics to give it its own unique feel amongst the countless Indie 2D Metroidvania Platformers.

Really enjoyed myself with this and from how the game ends... I am extremely excited about a potential sequel

A classic Kirby game that has been on my to do list for years and after finally playing it. I would genuinely consider it my favourite of the pre Wii/3DS era Kirby's

Being able to fuse your abilties is such a fun thing to mess around with and makes up for how few abilities there are in the game overall, the game looks amazing and aside from a couple collectables was a comfortable breeze.

Highly Reccommend (though those playing on the Switch NSO might find it uncomfortable because of where the D-Pad is placed)

While the side content felt in really bland in comparison. The gripping and emotional main story certainly made up for it.
Highlight of the game is Majima. He’s definitely where a lot of the insane energy that I loved about 0 was put into and by god it is insane the things this man does.
Overall a really good time that’s on par with 0 in a lot of ways and has me incredibly excited to try Kiwami 2
