You Will Never Complete Your Backlog (but let's try)

I spend way too much time replaying games I've already played so let's see if we can strike some new ones off the list.
I got this idea from DeemonAndGames so make sure you look at their list too.

1. Play the first game added to your backlog
2. Play the last game added to your backlog
3. Play the game with the highest average rating
4. Play the game with the lowest average rating/no rating
5. Play a game from the 1980's
6. Play a game from the 1990's
7. Play a game from the 2000's
8. Play a game from the 2010's
9. Play a game from the 2020's
10. Shuffle your backloggd and play the first game that appears
11. Play an indie game by a developer you haven't played anything from
12. Play the game that is the most popular
13. Play the game that is the least popular
14. Play the game that was released the earliest
15. Play a game from your favorite genre
16. Play a game from your least favorite genre
17. Play a game with the most beautiful cover
18. Play a game that someone recommended to you
19. Play a game that was nominated for a Game Award in any category
20. Shuffle your backlog and play the first game that appears

1. Play the first game added to your backlog
Started this quite a few times but it never clicked. I'll knuckle down and become the Super Metroid.
2. Play the last game added to your backlog
Didn't really like this when it first came out, now is the time to give it another chance. Technically this should have been Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, but I already played a decent amount of that year and it's a lovely time.
3. Play the game with the highest average rating
VR is pretty incredible. I love Half-Life more than my actual life. I have the game and a headset. But I still haven't finished this because I hate the set-up of VR so much. This year, I will muddle through.
4. Play the game with the lowest average rating/no rating
They played this on Game Grumps and it was like 50p on Steam.
5. Play a game from the 1980's
I've never had the drive to complete Ghosts n Goblins (the game feel doesn't jive with me), so I'll continue my adventure through old Castlevania. I already love the first and IV.
6. Play a game from the 1990's
Could have picked Mr. Gimmick but I'm going to play that anyway. I played this before but I got softlocked when the first boss guy grabbed me and Megan Man just kinda stayed in the air. I didn't reset.
7. Play a game from the 2000's
Need more Endless Ocean vibes in my life.
8. Play a game from the 2010's
Somewhat not in the spirit of this idea because I'm very close to playing this anyway, but if I'm going to throw something like that in it may as well be a 10's of hours JRPG.
9. Play a game from the 2020's
I don't have many from this decade so far. I'm not playing Bayo 3 because I know it will hurt me.
10. Shuffle your backloggd and play the first game that appears
ah fuck. I bought this because it was cheap, I read a review on here that was really passionate about it, and I like Noah Gervais' video on it. Despite all this, I'll probably still find it a slog. I hate random. Zone of the Enders was the second one too. You couldn't have gone one over??
11. Play an indie game by a developer you haven't played anything from
12. Play the game that is the most popular
I'm cheating slightly because I'd want to buy Spider-Man on PC instead of playing on PS4 and I'm doing the Ross Scott method of waiting until it's the price of sandwich. I had pretty mixed feelings on Hollow Knight when I first put about 5 hours into it and have been meaning to give it another go.

X2

13. Play the game that is the least popular
The people who made Worms did this.
14. Play the game that was released the earliest
Earlier in this list I deftly avoided playing Ghosts and also Goblins. This time I was less lucky.
15. Play a game from your favorite genre
Adventure is very broad but would be the closest to describing my favourite.
16. Play a game from your least favorite genre
Never really liked card-based games but heard a lot of good things.
17. Play a game with the most beautiful cover
Squaresoft were just fucking killing it with their NTSC-J covers in this era.
18. Play a game that someone recommended to you
A very long time ago I was playing TF2 on a map modelled after a Game Boy Pokemon game and I asked people discussing Kingdom Hearts if it was worth playing. To this day I haven't followed their advice. This year I will.
19. Play a game that was nominated for a Game Award in any category
20. Shuffle your backlog and play the first game that appears
Boy am I playing a bunch of RPGs this year.

Responding super late, but thank you for the shout-out and I really hope you enjoy Bowser's Fury and you find Hollow Knight when you return to it! Even aside of those two, there are some amazing bangers on here, really hope you enjoy them all!
