i'm sorry but this game has some of the worst bosses of all time
if i was a kid playing this i'd go berserk
good otherwise

Decent schlocky game that loses half a point for realizing during the final boss how completely and utterly broken the forest fuurinkazan drive is

While I think the criticisms leveraged against this game are entirely warranted, and that Sonic Adventure 2 is objectively the better game, as an adult I don't find myself coming back to SA2 nearly as much as SA1. A very charming and special game despite its many flaws.

Short and sweet, immaculate Treasure aesthetic with tons of personality, killer soundtrack, all around just a great time

A fairly flawed game, but undoubtedly a classic, with a lot of character and surprisingly thoughtful level design for the era. I would say I took off half a star from 4/5 because of holy water undoubtedly being OP, the cruel bird section respawn point on the Frankenstein level forcing you to deal with the little jumpy guys with only a short whip, and not being able to find a very consistent strategy to beat Death.

Masterpiece, probably my favorite soundtrack on the Genesis

I would be lying if I said I didn't have a ton of fun playing this with a friend on launch and on and off for months afterward. I would also be lying if I said that they are charging a fair price for this game (insult to injury deepened by it being easily found for a few bucks on certain websites what felt like days or weeks after its release).

Level design starts to outstrip the capabilities of the engine once you get to Rainbow Ride, resulting in some rather awkward platforming, but still a classic, and perhaps one of the greatest games to speedrun of all time.

Was very surprised by this little gem. Mechanics are nuanced, but intelligently so and not for its own sake, feels great.

Was pretty disappointed with this one. It looks like a lot of work has gone into the creation of the game engine itself, but it seems like actually populating the game with things was about the last thing on the dev team's mind. A hilariously short affair with some interesting ideas that are very underutilized.

Story mode was a treat, Multiplayer Versus is the pinnacle of mankind's inventions, the endless stream of garbage in Endless is a masochist's dream. In some regards may be more entertaining to watch than it is to play, but I love it all the same.
