extremely surprising how solid and genesis-like this title is, first one i replayed to get both the good and bad endings (though that wouldn’t have been worth it if not for the two playable characters.) aspect really learned their lesson after sonic 2. just please for the love of god stop doing pipe mazes

MaGMML is an acquired taste, but Episode Zero is something everyone can (and should) play. it's so excellently made to balance the wacky variety of the usual contest formula with the quality control and pacing of a retail product and all held together by one of the best movement systems in a platformer.

an improvement over the first 8-bit title but far from an adaptation of sonic 2. would probably have a much lower rating without savestates, and scrambled egg zone’s pipe mazes take like a whole star off on its own. some really cool ideas, but i hope chaos is when they start taking more notes from the genesis titles and improving what’s already here

the best version of sonic 1 by far, no question. Unfortunately, Sonic 1

(Review of the Noise Update) What an insane way to do a second character, my god. Fully takes the Shovel Knight approach of a really fun new moveset that lets you tackle the same levels in new ways, but goes off the wall with how those new ways are implemented, at times almost feeling like a parody of the original. Without spoilers, I can also say that the story somehow doubles down on the themes of the main game and subverts your expectations of what kind of POV you're even viewing the events through. Highly recommend.

the side stories are incredibly touching, emotional, and do so much justice for these characters that absolutely deserved it, but the nonsensical extra lore hamfisted into the fake OS drags the entire package down. still worth a play for any fan of the original

got to the torture sequence, died, and realized i hadn't saved for hours. i'll come back eventually

genuinely the best mega man storyline/continuity out there, and also the most fun i've had with a doom mod, it's so well done and addictive

such a glow-up from the og. one of the best rhythm games out there

fun extra that adds onto dead estate really well, though definitely not as replayable by nature of not being a rougelike. still definitely coming back to this for an s-rank, though.

great collection, the gyro aiming is really useful

extremely mid but still interesting, with good music and art. just held back by some all around questionable level design, and screen crunch on game gear

REALLY cool concept, but turned out to be the worst of the World/GB series by far. the developer switch was a real mistake, and i’m glad by the third game they learned their lesson.
