Overtime I came to see this game as overrated, but after replaying it I realize it was far from it. I’ve forgotten about my love for this beautiful game. Sure I know where to go, it’s easy and simple when you dissect the game to its core. However that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to play through. The music, sound effects, atmosphere, and world are plenty of good reasons for me to return to this in the future. For the first time a Zelda game was 3D, this was the result; A game that truly gives you a sense of progression. You have to appreciate Nintendo for laying down that foundation of what a 3D game could be like.

more fun and chaotic than the first game, the new weapons are cool and the upgrade system was a nice touch. My only problem is that everything is very expensive so I couldn’t buy much of the weapons, however that could also be seen as replay incentive. I enjoyed my time with this game.

It’s a Jojo fighting game, that’s all there is too it. I bought this game when they said the psn store was shutting down, and the day after I bought this they announced it wasn’t being shut down. So I’d like to think Jojo’s saved the PSN store.

One of my favorite opening scenes to a video game. Maybe I prefer this to the remake. I could say it’s the simplicity of it, but perhaps it’s the doors we shouldn’t open or the jill sandwiches. It could even be the blood that we hope isn’t Chris’ that we found in “the dinning room”

There’s just something about this franchise that I can’t really explain in words. It just does what it does, that is being “resident evil”. Even the basement music adds to the culture of this franchise.

Every time I go through that opening scene, I like to quote the lines as it’s happening, however this playthrough (as it has been many years) I have completely forgotten about “Stay Alert!” from Wesker, so when I heard that I genuinely bursted out laughing. I love you Resident Evil.

“Stop it, don’t open that door!”

It was quite the adventure navigating through the Raccoon City Police Department. There were times I got lost or stuck, a few deaths which also resulted in loss of progression but somehow I pulled through. I do prefer the Mansion from 1, however don’t let that negate my love for this game. They built upon the foundations from the first game and improved it on all aspects. It’s a really great game. A beautiful sequel. I’m happy I was able to complete it!

“hey, it's up to us to take out umbrella”
cue rock music

A very anxiety inducing trip throughout what remains of Raccoon City.

Jill Valentine best girl.
Nemesis scary.
I enjoyed it.

"Farewell to my life, farewell to my home. This is my last chance at survival, this is my last escape."

The story aspect is really good, but other than that I did not enjoy this game. Very tedious gameplay, forgettable locations, poorly designed bosses. This game is difficult but for the wrong reasons. Enemies take too long to die, lots of backtracking, limited item space. You can argue that’s the point, and that’s fair. But it’s just not fun. I find this game to be a chore to play through, and yet I’d still say play this game for the story if you’re interested in Resident Evil lore. There are cool moments! If you can get past the mundane experience of the gameplay.

It’s a very charming Zelda game. Great music, a very expressive art style. I’ve never noticed how much of a sequel this was to Ocarina of Time. Quite satisfying for me to have some sort of acknowledged continuity. I only had a few issues in my adventure on the great sea, one major factor being pacing. It just felt that the pacing was a bit off during this game. Especially the Triforce collecting sequence. Some of the trials for these shards just felt uninspired. The Earth and Wind Temple weren’t really well designed imo. It’s strange that bird lady is sage of the Earth Temple and the tree lad is sage of the Wind Temple. These are just my issues I had during my personal experience with the game, and I understand not everyone will feel the same in these regards. There was one thing I especially loved about this game though, the final act.

The final act was purely captivating. I was tearing up just reading Ganondorf’s monologue. Very well spoken, as if you can actually feel the emotion of his words through the voiceless text. This Ganondorf has earned my admiration.

The fabled Resident Evil 4, a fantastic experience from start to finish. This game changed up the Resident Evil gameplay style while still staying true to the series formula. There is this “flow” state the game creates where you never really feel held back by your failures. It’s so feel good to play through because of this. Leon is such a sexy protagonist in this one, having been through a quite a bit after Raccoon City, as Ada Wong said “he’s toughened up” I was in love with the script for this game, the witty dialogue is such a blessing. It took me way too long to get to this but I can really see why this has been ported time and time again. Easily one of the best Resident Evil games I have played.

The only real good thing about this game is that Jill and Chris are in it. Am I supposed to really care about these other characters? I mean they aren’t all inherently bad, but I’ve just always had this strange off-vibe when it comes to this game in the Resident Evil series. Everything is just really, weird. There are things they did get right but for every right there are 3 wrongs. The enemy design isn't anything special. Regarding the “return to form” people usually say, in some aspect this can be that. I can see the attempt, but it’s still not exactly executed properly. It’s very annoying that when you shoot the full clip of your gun, it doesn’t automatically reload so you’re just stuck there pointing your empty gun. The scanning device is a dumb mechanic. I don’t necessarily think this is a “bad” game, but it definitely could have been much better. It is cool that they bridge the gap between 4 and 5, and I’d say this game actually enhances 5 so there is that.

There’s certain games in your life that you will always love despite all flaws. Your personal experience has major influence on your opinion. Resident Evil 5 is that game for me. When I first purchased a Resident Evil game, it was this one, along side Resident Evil 1 and 2 for gamecube. I started with 1 immediately but I also wanted to play 5 due to my friend having it as well and I learned of the coop. And so I went through Resident Evil 5. Then I went through it again, then again and again. Every difficulty. Every trophy I could get. I’ve done it all. I knew every enemy encounter, every emblem location. I was in love with the idea of unlocking infinite ammo from beating the game. It was so much fun for me. I met many people during online play. Great memories and experiences. The sound effects, the voice dialogue. It all just hits me in a special spot. It’s by no means a perfect game. There are some annoying level designs. But I have gone through this game many times so I’m sure most of my tedious issues are a cause of that. But yeah it’s Resident Evil 5. Global Saturation. Natural Selection. All that jazz.
