Fantastic resonance between the story and gameplay here, delivering something super compelling within the boundaries of Fire Emblem. The unique design in terms of maps and units ties in perfectly with the overarching themes and makes for an immensely epic experience.

The closest FE has gotten to real war simulation, leveraging unfair and tough conditions to make the battles all the more tense and exciting. Uses so many unique mechanics to put us in Leif's shoes and make every victory feel really earned, even when achieved with underhanded tactics.

I actually like the story despite it's big flaws, and even though the map design isn't the best the sheer amount of customizability adds a lot to the experience.

Trims the fat from modern FE to get some of its best mechanics, and pairs them with great map design and a really fun unit building system with a ton of options. The story is pretty silly but the fun cast and tone makes it hard to really hate.

A great way to remake Gaiden, makes for a really fun and comforting game with some stellar presentation while not straying too far from the original. Unfortunately that means that the just okay story and pretty weak map design shows through.
