Really doesn't get better than this. This game mixes character action and rhythm games perfectly. Dynamic music is always a pleasure to see as well as keeping up combos for staying up to the rhythm. One thing is a big personal preference but being able to parry all attacks is so satisfying. Most games will let you parry most moves but not all for a variety of reasons, Hi-Fi Rush is bold enough to let you do it on all because it takes proper timing to do so and rewards you beautifully for successfully doing it.
Usually I'm not one to really get hyped over licensed music but they all fit the game's theme and world to warrant their inclusion, and if you really don't like it you can switch to original songs for it instead. Great to have that as an option.
Chai is the type of character to have only one brain cell in all the right ways, the characters all bounce off each other really well. I was afraid of this game being too quipy but it's all innocent dumb humor. Loved the cast by the end of it all
You never see the game of the year come out in Janurary but it did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of those types of games where I feel like I've seen everything the game has to offer mechanic wise only a few levels in. I don't care for the story and so far that looks like the only thing pushing me through to complete it
Played as Emily on Medium difficulty to see how she would differ from Corvo in 1 but she has the teleport move too which is fundamentally the same as Corvo's powers in 1 (and when you pick him in this game too I assume).
Gameplay loop is samey, climb up somewhere high. Jump down and knock the guy who's in your way. Teleporting makes it a lot easier but there is a mode they offer to not use it. I didn't go for that this playthrough because I wanted to see what the game had to offer. Honestly, none of the powers were too unique compared to what I remember from Dishonered 1.
Maybe Corvo has new powers or something. Not sure if I'll check any time soon.
Maybe this is the fault for playing on normal difficulty but the AI for the guards is also dumb as bricks. They'll walk by any knocked out guards and not bat an eye. I never even bothered hiding them because of it. Not sure if it was genuinely glitched but with how many times it happened I figured it must be because of the difficulty.
Combat is uninteresting and the only real "challenge" is from trying to get up close to enemies to deal with them.
Not sure if it's a good mechanic if I have to nerf myself to give myself a challenge, it's some Pokemon Nuzlock shit.

Cool vibes in this game all around. Love the MS Paint style, it might turn some people away but every frame of animation is a pleasure to look at. OST is full of bangers, can't think of one song I didn't like. Love the game's humor too from the visual gags in the animation when playing and the backgrounds to just general good pacing.
Just about every level has some unique gimmick/power up to throw at you which sounds like a big gaming red flag but it is honestly done so well and never kills the pacing, usually goes down to a puzzle to get rid of a power up you have because you can't get too far without it. Once you get the groove of the game it becomes very fast paced and running through levels. I think I had a big grin on my face throughout my entire playthrough
Didn't 100% to beat but will probably go back to try to.
Excellent platformer all-around. Wish Peppino Pizza was real I'd eat there every week

Pokemon is back (derogatory). If you played Pokemon Legends and hated any of the quality of life improvements, being able to catch Pokemon in the overworld, an intuitive UI, the game isn't split into two versions and probably every single other thing people praised that game for then this is the game for you. I only got to like, the first gym but I can't do this it's so slow.
To simply put my thoughts in a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3G4NyelU2Y
Wake me up when they make another Legends game.

Interesting re-imagining of RE3: Nemesis. Game has its moments of being a modern game where I'm doing some forced walking or holding the forward button in place of what would have been a QTE a generation ago. This game is pretty actiony compared to RE1 and 2....just like 3:Nemesis was.
I think for Pursuers this one had the worst one compared to the OG 2 and 3 and their respective remakes. He doesn't show up too often, it's like in Mr. X in the original where he's scripted but he can't really work in any other way. If you got to explore Racoon City more I think it would have worked better.
My beloved clock tower and worm boss battle is missing too of course but I think the sequence we get instead are worthy replacements.
Overall it feels like an expansion pack rather than a remake compared to 2 but it's not by the same team. A good game to burn through the weekend.

Exploring through Rapture was a lot of fun, early game I enjoyed being low on ammo and plasmids to fend for myself, near the end of the game they start throwing money ammo and everything in between but that's how these types of games are generally. The lore of Rapture is interesting when it's being subtly told through the world's environment. I think my biggest criticism with this game is the audio logs aren't the best way to talk about it. I usually would run to a quiet area to listen to whatever a character had to say which was "Everything was unregulated and it sucked, Andrew Ryan sucks!". The game gets this message across by the level design and just seeing Rapture's current state. Paying off alarms and locks, the shop stands mocking you, and so on. The plasmid power ups are a fun way to mix up combat as well, both guns and these feel equally valuable. If you enjoy exploring in your shooters with some heavy focus on story then I'd recommend this game

Basically improved on my critiques on Demon Turf. Power ups are set to shoulder buttons, no attack moves or combat, no time stop or hook-shot. Only collectables go straight to power ups and bonus stages which is a much better incentive than alt colors.
Just even pure raw speedy platforming. Thought the time for the gold trophies were pretty generous but this one cuts it close, needing to basically get the run in one perfect shot. Takes a lot of shots to get but getting it is satisfying. It's pretty short unfortunately but it was a great time.

Some solid platforming that's a mix of Mario 64 with power ups you can switch between. Game heavily encourages speedrunning with its timer on each level which gives them all great replay value.
The collectables are OK honestly. You don't need them to beat the game, just the 50 stars, I mean batteries. While the cakes are pretty essential for giving you bonus power ups, faster walking was my go-to and I honestly wish was just the default run speed. Lollipops don't give you much aside from colors and since every bonus level has 100 of them I got to a point where I found a color combo and pet I liked and stuck with it. They're cute additions for customization but it's nothing to write home about. I like taking pictures and selfies in the game but I couldn't care less for the missions on it.
Two of the power ups in this game are really fun to use. My favorite being the snake wheel, racing through a stage and dodging death traps is a satisfying thing to pull off without any stops. The bird power up was good for finding ways to speedrun through a stage, it's simple, kind of similar to the wing cap in Mario 64 but it's a hotkey now instead.
The Hookshot is OK, you've seen a hook shot in a game before, you know how it works.
My least favorite was the time stop, cool concept but I honestly found myself rarely using it unless completely necessary. I found it more satisfying to try to time my jumps just well enough to not need to do that.
One thing I enjoyed a lot about the game though is if there wasn't specifically a long gap between you and the segment asking you to use a power up, you could find another way around it if you were good enough. Good incentive to try new playstyles.
Overall if you're itching for a 3D platformer give this game a shot

Uninteresting characters and stories all around, not a single moment in the story I was interested in. Fates's gameplay is more interesting gameplay wise than Awakening, throwing more things at the players like stage gimmicks and forcing the player to think about their next move without relying on partnering up. That said, it's hard for me to care about a RPG when the characters are two times as shallow as Awakening's already gimmicky characters. A game like this isn't much when half of the gameplay is about building relationships between the characters which I feel would be motivated by liking character's chemistry together.
Tl;dr If you must play this, mash that start button and skip the cutscenes or just play a different game
Camilla hot haha

Has potential, I like the idea of the open world you explore constantly changing as you progress. My main gripe is I don't feel like the 3D world physics fit too well with it. I don't know what I'd do to change Fury Bowser. I like when he appears and the world changing and becoming more difficult to platform through when he's around but I wish it was utilized more, I feel like most of my encounters with him were hanging around a block that only he could destroy. Though the most fun I had was during the end game and he wouldn't leave.
This is most likely a tech demo for some upcoming Mario game so I'd love to see them truly polish the gameplay loop of this. It's a shame this is locked behind a $60 port of a 9 year game. This should be a $15 eshop game

Nintendo's weird little survival horror RTS. One of my favorite things in this game is how much of an everyman Olimar is, his musings in his journal of him slowly losing his sanity is a good read if you're into the weird implications. All the enemy designs make it feel like I'm really just another animal in the forest. Such a raw feeling

Basically Deltarune chapter 0.... Your choices don't matter!!!! It's fun to see the stepping stones for story telling elements and jokes for Undertale and Deltarune. Some neat moments, I appreciated the creepy enemies, especially the "Remember Me" enemy, the slowed down Onett theme was a guilty pleasure as someone who likes the genocide tracks from Undertale.
It's surprisingly grind heavy for a short game. Unless you're incredibly curious on the experience I wouldn't recommend, just listen to Megolovania

Only checked out the first game and don't really care to check out the rest, the platforming is fine at best. A majority of the game's challenge came from just waiting for the platform to come back to me so I can jump on it and move on. If waiting is my biggest challenge vs other things that make a platformer interesting then why bother.
