I feel disoriented from the stress of the utter chaos from the final encounter. P'good game.

An actually pretty alright final boss encounter. Finished him off Close and Personal.
A decent, if exhausting, experience overall.

Cleared episode 1 and the first level of episode 2 on Hard.
Lots of enemies. Lots of ammo. 1 38

The Earth Trial platforming "challenge" was so stupid.
Shamblers aren't much of a threat in this expansion due to the lava nails.

Was off to a great start but then The Lost Mine decided that jank obstacle avoidance would be the play of the game.
- - -
These traps are fucking obnoxious. I enjoy the more intense enemy encounters but all the bullshit "GOTCHA"s only detract from the experience. Having to trial and error your way through an instant death lava-tiledrop maze is not fun. Oh wait it's trivialized by walking slowly omfg. I'm still lost though. The Black Cathedral is annoying. The Crypt has a great OST. Mortum's Keep is obnoxious.
- - -
Struggled with Armagon because I forgot that pillars aren't just useful for kiting Shamblers. Jej.
Mediocre expansion overall.

Once the prodean enemies were becoming common I gave up on performing deathless clears on Ultra Hard. I dropped down to Very Hard for the final encounter after two failed attempts.
The penultimate mission was the best one.

Defeated the Spider Demon. Managed to clear the whole game on UV without loading a save after death. Looked up how to complete E3M7 again though.

I spent more time fussing with the controls to try and wrangle this piece of garbage into something resembling a playable videogame that doesn't make me feel sick. I don't think I succeeded.

Fucking garbage on Hard. Now I'm stuck on Rhen Var. Chain wiping to droidekas rolling to the other side of the map to sweep the imbecilic allied units over and over again isn't fun.
- - -
Gave up and switched to Medium. Rhen Var Clones, and Yavin Rebels were my limits.
An all around lower quality experience compared to BFII.

This was such a slog to finish. Navigating the overworld feels so cramped and sluggish. I just gave up at the end and was begging for it all to be over asap. I have such distinct memories of the final cutscene, I guess I really did finish my old cartridge save file.

- - -
wandered back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and still couldn't find the village hidden in the forest. Apparently you need to just "know" to use the hammer on a random fucking tile.
- - -
Fuck. This.
I keep dying over and over and over and over and over and over and walking back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back TO THE SAME FUCKING ROOM. Save-state time. I have no more patience for dragon heads shoving me off pillars into lava.
- - -
Used the state one time to bypass the clusterfuck of dragon heads on lava-pillars and defeated the boss effortlessly. Ughhhhh.

fuck. getting. to the cross.

I have completely and utterly lost all patience with this garbage final stretch of the game and am now savestating until I reach the last fucking palace. - Made it with a save state at the start of the canyon. Yeesh.

I finally stopped giving a shit and looked up a walkthrough for Level-7. Turns out I had the right idea. Just bomb every fucking wall until you're allowed to progress. Garbage dungeon. You're supposed to bomb through into an empty square despite the game having previously set up expectations that you should check the map to figure out where to bomb in order to not waste the precious resource. Unforgiveably fucking obnoxious.
I'm losing my fucking mind trying to clear Levels 6&8. Screw this I'm looking up the heart container locations. Only two I found naturally were the Raft and Ladder locked pieces.

Looked up the location of the Red Ring and Silver Arrows. Finished the First Quest.

Not enjoying this so far. It's cool to see tweaked mecahnics but exploring has been uninteresting. I also just wasted I don't know how long walking back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth because the fucking mission log lead me to believe I couldn't progress in the room I'm supposed to have found a path through.
- - -
Subversion starts out kinda boring after the cool intro, but ends up becoming more interesting later on. I wish more of the zones felt unique compared to vanilla.
