Favorite Part: The animations are phenomenal. Clearly so much love and care was put into making them look as good as they do, especially the spell animations.

Least favorite: THE JANK. DEAR GOD THE JANK. PLEASE PATCH THIS GAME. FIX IT.

Favorite Part: Chapters 5-8, the vampire section of the game. Great imagery/level desin, fun boss fights, great puzzles. Overall awesome levels

Least favorite: All of chapter 9, basically the complete opposite of what came before it.

Favorite Part: The godlike final boss fight.

Least favorite: Gort's character "arc".

Favorite Part: Pretty much all of the legacy dungeons were fantastic. I'll give the crown to Stormveil Castle, but they were all amazing.

Least Favorite: Fighting my umpteenth Erdtree Avatar.

Favorite Part: The opening chapter of the game, where you go up against Kamoshida, is genuinely super well done and incredibly memorable. Fantastic opening.

Least Favorite: The terrible boss fight with Okumura.

Favorite Part: Chapters 8-10, where you're climbing the World Tree, all build on each other so well.

Least favorite: The "side quest" in Chapter 4 to awaken Roc. Really long for such a tiny scene and it's mandatory for some reason.

Favorite Part: The "Crack in the Slab" mission where you have to manipulate time in order to solve puzzles. Really clever and well done.

Least Favorite: Having to constantly toggle on Dark Vision cuz they reduced its active time from the first game. >:(

Favorite Part: Updated graphics/soundtrack. Everything and everyone looks and sounds gorgeous.

Least favorite: Future connected ended up being kind of a disappointment, despite me still enjoying where they took the characters and getting to explore a new area.

Favorite Part: The Upper Cathedral Ward. Genuinely terrifying and well done area.

Least Favorite: The winter lantern enemies. To this day I still don't feel like there is a truly effective way to fight them.

Favorite Part: Just the overall vibe of the world. Been a while since I've played a game where I just find myself fantasizing about the setting.

Least Favorite: The sheer amount of useless bullshit in the overworld. There are items hidden all over the place and probably 95% of them are completely useless.

Favorite Part: The support conversations were all pretty top tier. Edelgard and Dimitri in particular have some really great supports.

Least Favorite: The monastery exploration segments which never really changed or were interesting, but I still did anyway.

Favorite Part: Actually bonding with your party members, in particular Kalden.

Least Favorite: The crappy, crappy combat.

Favorite Part: The boss fights, in particular the fights against the Renan Lords, were all fantastic.

Least Favorite: Once you're done with a region, you're DONE with a region. Everything feels so episodic and not really interconnected like in previous Tales games.

Favorite Part: The Blade Bearer and Cannoneer boss fight. This game's version of O&S and imo just as good as that fight.

Least Favorite: Getting lost for hours in the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood.

2018

Favorite Part: The sheer amount of different dialogues occur across all your runs. Feels like no matter how many times I win or die, the world keeps changing around me.

Least Favorite: The poisonous satyr enemies in the last area who can hit you before you even register what's happening.
