@thinkingfella I think, and this might be crazy, that if people find it fun to choose a favorite and enjoy participation in a thing to choose a favorite, then that's a valid way of spending their time even if you deem it unpaid labor
I think you need to chill out

1.) no matter what your comment was not gonna hit because the core message is not gonna make sense to me and come off a bit rude. Thinking this is unpaid labour at this scale of posting my thoughts of what should win with the list they have; to me thats just like thinking wearing any branded clothes (Like Nike) is "subtly promoting" them too. Am I? Yes, and I think it would be a little miserable to care about tertiary stuff like this. Hell I have bought way more indie games this year than Triple A releases, and I will be making my own list at the actual end of the year to promote them outside of this event. I don't think these are the "worthy" games just because they got on ONE award show, and anyone who thinks that I don't agree with their mindset.
2.) Yes I am "subtlety promoting" this on Backloggd to my miniscule in the grand scheme followers and mutuals because this is a social event. I want to bounce ideas and words off other people. "is that reason enough to hold up these elite structures that dictate what art gets deemed worthy"; yes because this event is just opinions, and a call for opinions. Whoever wins ultimately doesn't matter, sure we might get a little miffed cause our pick was snubbed, but ultimately it is a catalyst for a coming together for my friends and I. These events are sort of like a Gamer Christmas for me. E3 and TGA and shit are so heavily commercialized and capitalistic, but so is Christmas. Christmas more and more just feels like a holiday just for celebrating capitalism, an ongoing loss of that magic. I see less decorations up, I barely ever see actual snow around the time, just a ever forward since of growing up. E3/TGA's are the same, just a bunch of ad's for games, prompting people to spend their money; but my god I love video games. I oh so dearly love video games, I love the magic they bring and I love staying in the know. TGA specifically feels like a beautiful celebration of, a admittedly small amount, video games.
So while both Christmas/Video Game Events can be wrapping in a staggering amount of capitalistic things, I believe that there is still magical core that prompts people to come together.

And don't get me wrong I will absolutely take my chance to shit talk AAA game companies because 80% of them are stupid to an alarming degree.

@thinkingfella yeah sorry i didnt want it to come off as "you must be miserable thinking this way", wrong word i guess. You are right about that type of put down though, like if someone said "oh i dont wanna think about that..." to stuff I think are problems (i.e. Gaza), I would clown on them too.
i probably understand that they are farces because they want you to feel magical so you spend more money. I genuinely love some capitalism aesthetics (malls/concrete/current christmas), just wish it didnt realistically suck!

Oh man I missed the warzone, enjoyed the list though. I want to make my own but I have barely played any of the games nominated.
@thinkingfella its chill, i just think you came on a little strong with a jokey jab that didn't land cause we're strangers.
@marki yeah i haven't played any of this shit either, but im very certain these would be my picks anyways
